About a month ago I booked a pitch. I said it was for my son's birthday and he would like to invite a few of his mates and have a kick about as his birthday treat (a party but without a party package). A lady booked us in for Monday 1st of April, under my son's name. I told him he got the pitch booked, he invited his mates,I informed the parents. My son was over the moon, looking forward to his birthday. On Thursday I phoned to confirm the details, etc. A man told me "we are actually closed on the 1st". I asked how was it closed if someone booked us in over a month ago and even if it was closed why nobody had the courtesy to call me beforehand? His answer was "there is plenty of time to re-arrange". I found this answer quite rude and inconsiderate, after all we are talking about my child's birthday party, other children and their families! 3 days is not exactly plenty of time to re-arrange, as people have got their own lives, jobs, commitments, other children, etc. Also if I didn't ring and turned up on monday as per booking with the birthday boy and his guests to find the place closed...? The manager was to phone me back, he never did... I rang back myself, to be told should it be a full party package they would have considered something. My boy is 11 on monday, he wasn't too bothered about the full party package (he had them in the past), all he wanted was to have a pitch to himself and his mates on his birthday. Just to say I hope you guys from Rotherham Football Centre will never be put in the position you put me in when you have to tell your child someone's mistake would have their football birthday party cancelled, Because when its your 11th birthday and football is your life, this sort of mistake is a huge deal.
