Some of the greatest brisket I've ever had
Full racks are not very big, it feels almost like a half rack. Seasoning is good but too simple for the cost. Expected much more for the reviews read.
Parking: Near resturant
Kid-friendliness: Yes
I had the most disappointing experience with Rocklands today. It’s my first time trying the Salmon Salad. The cashier guy asked me if I wanted my salmon “blackened” - normally I wouldn’t order that because I don’t like it over cooked, but he specifically said that in this case “blackened” refers only to a spice level, so it just means more spicy. So I went with it. Then after waiting the food for 20 mins (the family ordered after us even finished their meal!), I got this Blackened salmon. I couldn’t taste anything but bitterness, and clearly it had nothing to do with spice level. So I went back to the cashier and asked the guy about my Blackened salmon and he told me three times that it’s just about spice level, despite my salmon obviously being burnt. Then fine. I feel I’m responsible to let everyone who interested in try their salmon knows that the Blackened salmon means bitter and uneatable dish, and don’t trust the cashiers. I feel very betrayed since I recommended all my friends that Rocklands is the best BBQ in town. I was so wrong.
Went here on a Sunday evening close to closing time, which is probably why it looks quiet in the photos. I had a wonderful three meat platter with collard greens & cole slaw. Succulent sauces too; just a little dab compliments the meat. And I ordered some grilled wings that had a great bark on em! I’m definitely coming back soon.
Update, October, 2023: I need to be getting here earlier than 8:25PM on a Sunday evening, because they close up at 9pm even though the Sunday night football game is on at the bar (see photo). Or maybe I should’t come here on “my Friday” night.
A few small suggestions: serve the food on a plate, even if it’s just a paper plate, instead of those tiny school lunch line paper baskets. Also, some butter to go with the cornbread would be nice, and I would also pay extra for that, because I know butter isn’t free or cheap. It does have a long shelf life in a restaurant cooler.
The bartender was friendly and professional, as was the rest of the staff. Thank you, again.
