The Union Cooperative bakery building is owned by the Barre Historical Society. It was built in 1913 as an annex to the Union Cooperative Store and is part of the Socialist Labor Party Hall National Historic Landmark. It has been restored as a traditional wood fired bakery. It now taken on a new life as an educational and small artisanal bakery, to be known as "Rise Up Bakery". Jim Haas is now the resident baker and has taken over the management of the bakery. Where you can now buy bread fresh-baked from the wood fired oven.
