Rooms: Comfortable and warm Nearby activities: Good walking. Castle Drogo. Food & drinks: Home made excellent breakfasts and evening meals
Just a review of the Sunday carvery which was excellent even by my own high standards. Two choices of gravy, one for beef, one for pork, cauliflower cheese which tasted of cheese and really tasty roast potatoes. I highly recommend this pub, not only for the carvery but its range of beer, ale and ciders at very reasonable prices. Try it! Food & drinks: Bar food, carvery and drinks.
The Ring O' Bells is brilliantly situated in the middle of Chagford, which is a great town in Dartmoor. The rooms are lovely, the breakfast is great and really sets you up for the day ahead. The bar is buzzing and lively and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. Parking is not too far away, at the main town car park. Highly recommend.
The first thing you should know about the Ring of Bells (the Ringers as it is known locally) is that it has been under completely new management since mid 2023; old reviews are simply no longer relevant! The Ring of Bells is set at the very centre of Chagford. There are four pubs here but the Ringers really is the social centre of the town with locals of all types enjoying the service, food and atmosphere of this brilliant Dartmoor pub. If you want a great meal, to meet local people, and to learn about real Dartmoor folk, I strongly recommend you pay the Ring of Bells a visit. If you're looking for a tasty takeaway they do that too and your children and dog will a be welcomed as warmly you. Nearby activities: Nestling on the edge of Dartmoor, Chagford is a great base for a Devon holiday. Safety: Friendly and welcoming, Chagford, and the Ring of Bells is a great place to visit and relax safely. Walkability: You can walk, cycle or ride straight out onto Dartmoor from the centre of Chagford. Food & drinks: Good, honest, food beautifully cooked at genuinely affordable prices - definitely the best value in Chagford.
Very large clean and warm room overlooking the square in the heart of Chagford. Large comfortable bed, (plus single bed). Only one chair. Enjoyable stay in a small traditional English pub. Warm welcome for us and our dog from Lin. Good breakfast included, but unable to order evening meal as kitchen closed (Boxing Day).
I stayed overnight here, and slept for almost 9 hours which is unheard of for me. The bed was super comfy, and the room was well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. The food is good, hearty. British pub grub dome really well. The chips were fluffy and crispy all at the same time. It's not gourmet but you aren't going to leave hungry. I visit Devon fairly regularly and will definitely be staying here again.
Lovely food on a Monday lunchtime. Good prices too
