Came here for BBQ food but was very disappointed. They no longer do all the meats that used to make me want to come to a "True Barbeque" restaurant, yet it is still advertised on the wall. Will 100% avoid in the future.
Not been here in years as I'd heard it dropped off a while back. Rolled the dice and visited this weekend. My goodness am I happy I did. The food was nothing short of amazing. Had the donut burger with hot wings and fried halloumi. May very well be the best burger I've had in the UK.
Food was good, but drinks were another matter. After ordering a ‘Red’s Pilsner’ and a subsequent discussion with the waitress, it’s actually Bud Light and tastes of nothing. Not sure how they stand legally with that one! Had I known, I wouldn’t have ordered. My son’s lemonade came with some additional chunks in the bottom! They did take this off of the bill to be fair.
The sad demise of Reds. I was visiting Leeds from cardiff, something I’ve not done it years. and was looking forward to going back to Reds for some good BBQ food.. sadly this is no longer a BBQ restaurant. No BBQ food and you have to pay £1 for BBQ sauce.. in a BBQ restaurant. Food was very mediocre and to top it all the men’s toilet was disgusting . I once recommended this place, I now advise against it
I went to Leeds Reds Monday night. I've hit Reds a few times in Nottingham and was really looking forward to trying the Reds in Leeds (Nottingham one closed down). However the menu was really disappointing. None of the awesome low and slow bbq that I had experienced previously. Instead I was met with a Burger shack style menu, with the odd Wings and Rib option. I went for wings and was given a plate of chicken legs. Legs aren't wings and they tasted as disappointing as they looked. A Real shame!
Firstly, the positives: the staff were all lovely; very friendly and attentive. I have no criticism of them whatsoever. Now, for the negatives: 1 - What has happened to the menu? No burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket etc; the items you would expect to find on the menu of a typical BBQ restaurant. 2 - The food. I ordered the Alabama Chicken. It tasted like it had been swimming in a pool of brine for a month. I’ve never eaten such salty chicken, to the extent that if I hadn’t known otherwise I would have sworn I was eating (very salty) gammon or mackerel! I could not finish it. 3 - The condiments. Ketchup and mayonnaise on the table - fine. However, when my friend asked for some barbecue sauce, he was told it would cost him an extra pound. Err isn’t this supposed to be a BBQ restaurant? 4 - The bill. A 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill. 5 - The toilets. Truly the most disgusting toilets I have ever seen in a restaurant. Without going into too much detail I pity the poor plumber that has to unblock the urinal trough and toilet. All in all, extremely disappointing. I’ve visited Reds on a number of occasions in the past and always enjoyed it. However, I notice the Newcastle and Manchester restaurants have permanently closed. I expect it will not be long before the Leeds restaurant follows suit.
The chef Julia was on fire tonight and provided me and my partner with one of the best meals I have ever eaten especially on my birthday, it was perfect. And the service from Sophie was immaculate 5 stars all around.
Luke warm food, mostly reheated. We had the reds feast and whilst we got a lot we left a lot. No one asked us if it was ok, and they tried to put a 12% service charge on to top it off.
