Very tasty. Very pricey. Superb service - Allen was very attentive. The blueberry margarita was the best I've ever had (real blueberries, blueberry vodka, chambord, and lemon), fantastic spicy ribs, and the lobster risotto was also appallingly good. Not a big fan of the ricotta appetizer - the sweet from the cheese and honey clashed with the truffle (but the toasted bread bites were amazing), and the lobster and crab dynamite sushi roll was absolutely delicious. (And not spicy despite the sound of it.)
Our family of 4 came to Red Salt twice for dinner and once for breakfast. 2 out of the 3 visits were on point. 2nd dinner was just ok. My husband and I had the Hoisin braised short ribs. Mine was lean, tender and delicious. My husband's was fatty which was a turn off for him. The aus jus is very much like a rich flavorful gravy. The root vegetables consisted of asparagus and multicolor parsnips. The short ribs sit on a bed of creamy mash. Definitely comfort food. Our children had the Red Salt burger and the kids grilled chicken and waffle fries. The grilled chicken had zero seasoning. Breakfast was good. The only miss was the fruit plate. All fruit with exception of papaya was not in season so it was hard with no flavor. The papaya seemed to have been sitting as it was a little wilted and a little dry. Sorry no photos, but I would recommend this restaurant. Parking: Valet will park your car for you.
Service was great! The food was great! We had the Ribeye, and some sushi rolls. The kids menu was good also. We would definitely come back. We would pass on the Bone Marrow dish.
No reservation needed for the sushi bar Warm welcome after a disappointing reception at another local spot on another site Small but excellent menu. Sashimi was super fresh. Speciality rolls outstanding. The White Coral was excellent Japanese beers and good sake selection Desserts from Red Salt dining room menu The sushi team are real artists and a pleasure to watch them at work and taste their dishes. Thank you Highly recommended
The food and service was excellent. The seared ahi main dish was especially exceptional. Despite the lovely view of the pool area and the ocean beyond, the dining room is spare and unremarkable.
Service and food were consistently good. We had breakfast everyday and all selections were consistently great. Prices are typical for hotel onsite dining. Vegetarian options: There was an adequate selection of vegetarian meals. Dietary restrictions: Upon checking in at the hostess podium, they ask if you have dietary restrictions. Parking: Valet parking only. Kid-friendliness: This is not a restaurant geared for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchair.
If you’ve been to Roy’s on other islands, expect a similar theme here, only better.
4.25 stars. Red Salt was the most surprising restaurant find of our most recent trip to Kauai. I would say that their menu is very impressive - certainly more varied and interesting than other fine dining places around. I wanted to give them 5 stars, but small misses on the food knocked it down - my lamb was overcooked and not well trimmed, my scallops needed a better sear, the risotto was a bit too complicated (hid the lobster taste), and our lava flows were not as good as other restaurants', etc. That said, I can tell this team knows how to cook, since the flavor profiles were interesting and well executed and I enjoyed some new combos. My wife's sushi was excellent. We will certainly be back.
