Our first visit was amazing. I had the red iguana sampler. Everything was wonderful.
Food was different from other Hispanic restursnts but was delicious! I ordered chicken in one of their Mole sauces that looked, smelled, and tasted more like an Indian curry. You just eat it with tortillas instead of Naan bread.
Get rid of the hostess in the blue and white dress yesterday!! 3/19 We are from Colorado and have been to the original red iguana before. We decided to try 2 this time. We walked in with reservation PROOF in hand, the lady in the blue and white dress was so rude and annoyed because she couldn’t find our reservation and wanted so clearly to turn us away with such a nasty look on her face while she looked at my husband. Thank GOD a very nice older lady with blonde hair and bangs came up and intervened by saying “WE HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM” with a smile on her face. Not sure what the heck the host lady’s problem was. Anyways, food was awesome per usual but the host really set the vibe for me on a dinner we were really excited about. Waitress was also very nice and everyone else we encountered. Better luck next time with hopefully a better host.
Can't recommend here enough. This is my go-to when I don't want to cook. Usually get take out and it's just as good when we get home and packaged well for no spilling. I've even ordered their catering for work. They have always been on time, so helpful with setup and my coworkers love it.
Fantastic place! It was highly recommended and I think a fan favorite! I cot the combo plate. A ton of food and it was all delicious. I also had a margarita. Nice to get a real margarita for once.
Loved this place, was on town on business and stopped by for dinner with friends on a recommendation. Had the carnitas tacos, so delicious!
This was our second visit to the Red Iguana during our month long visit to SLC. No doubt this is the best Mexican food in Salt Lake, but that doesn't sufficiently deliver the props this joint deserves. The food is as good as any border city can offer for authentic Mexican cuisine. Mole to perfection. Excellent tacos and everything in between. Our server, Maggie, was a rock star. From tolerating my terrible Rod Stewart reference to serving us efficiently and with aplomb, she made the whole evening even better. We make it here multiple times while in town and that won't change for sure.
All of the food that I ordered tasted great! However, I ordered a chimichanga, but for some reason, it didn't appear to be deep fried.
Hard to pick between either red iguanas but this one has the giant iguana outside- so it may get the win in my book! Various standouts on the menu but the mole sampler is what I would go with to try them all. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu and the portions are all humongous.
