We placed a relatively small catering order today for a birthday for a staff member. We requested that it be delivered at 11:45am. With the confirmation, we were giving a time of 12:30-12:45pm. We called and were told that the earlier time wasn’t possible, but shifted it to 12:15. Ok, things happen. That’s completely understandable. When at 12:30pm we were still waiting, we called to check in. At first the phone just rang. Calling back, the phone was answered with a “Yea?” I stated that I was just calling to check on the status of a catering order and was immediately cut off and told, “My driver just left with it. We had 16 orders today. I’m down two drivers.” And then promptly hung up. Never asked where I was from or even gave me much of a chance to speak. Our food arrived a little before 1pm. It hardly seemed like enough for 20 people, we were missing several side items, and were drowning in chips. While we certainly understand the shortage of staff or employees not showing up, there is no excuse for the rudeness. The tardiness of the meal could have very easily been understood and forgiven with just a few moments of etiquette and an actual attempt at customer service. Both were lacking. In contrast, the driver who dropped off our food was lovely. Smiling, apologetic… maybe the rest of the staff should take a lesson from him. The food was a tasty treat for our staff and birthday girl, albeit almost an hour late and after most of our staff had taken a lunch break with no food. We had to shift people around to cover classrooms so teachers could actually eat. We shall be taking our business elsewhere in the future.
