Do not go here. When my buddy and I discovered this place a few months ago, it was alright, except for the fact that the bartender berated us into giving a bigger tip (we had already given 12% and put another 20$ in the fuzzball). Strike one. Then recently we went back trying to get a Guinness, in those 4 months, the price had risen 1.50$ putting the 2 Guinness and tip to 25$. Strike two. This time we went when the place wasnt full, maybe 60% and as my friend and I went to sit at a table, the staff told us we couldn't sit there and that we needed to find a 2person table, not the 4person table we chose. Over the 90min we spent there, no one sat at those tables and it didn't get any busier. Strike three. In summary, the staff were rude and kept asking for more money, the price of their drinks are far from competitive, and the recent renovation that lowered the ceiling has reduced the atmosphere significantly. If you're looking for a decent Irish pub in Quebec city, there are better choices. The Bar Saint Mathews is just up the hill 20 seconds and is a much better choice. It's a shame that Nelligan's turned out to be so disappointing.
