A lovely welcome by Simon, when I highlighted I was with a group of students for a university project he dove straight in and gave us a thorough tour. Nice to see that he and the fellow volunteers take such pride in the site and it's history.

Visited the Cafe today for lunch and the service was shocking. I can appreciate that they are currently awaiting a new kitchen manager and are not operating a full menu, however, that doesn't excuse the poor service. Negatives: - Order was taken incorrectly. - Forgot to give us our drinks. We had to ask after waiting 10+ minutes. - Food arrived wrong. Had to be re done. - No salad with the lunch as mentioned on the menu. - The Cafe interior was chilly. Positives: - Nice place, would like to visit the museum in the future. - I appreciate the charitable work they are doing in preserving coal mining history. - The food that did arrive was very nice. - The cakes were nice.
