Pitango Gelato & Coffee, Penn Quarter

Want creamy gelato in classic flavors, accompanied by fast, friendly service? Go here! Pitango is my go-to “gelateria” in the Washington area. I stop in almost every time I come home to visit my family (though not always at this specific location). Don’t know where to start? I recommend “bacio” (chocolate and hazelnut) and “crema” (cream) for a nice classic combo. It’s much like what I remember eating while living in Italy! 😉

The mojito gelato and golden kiwi sorbets were so refreshing. The coffee was very smooth and high quality. I would highly recommend this place.

The gelato and sorbet are always rich and delicious, with a rotating selection of flavors. The service is always friendly. The space is small, with limited seating, so expect the line to extend out the door and plan to eat outside during busy times. It's worth the wait and the walk.
