A great location near union station. Staff was very helpful and coffee station on 2nd floor amazing. Loved the old charm and history of the hotel and a short walk to New Jersey street for the most awesome view of the capitol. Unfortunately the room was dirty and worn looking. Pet peeve—hard to get the shampoo and conditioner out of the container and I thought they could have had a better brand. The only other thing that was off putting was I was meeting friends in the lobby and I was constantly harassed by a women asking for money for a hotel room. She was very annoying and asked me 3 times within a span of 15 minutes, and again when my friends met me. She was harassing the desk staff and I don’t understand why she was not asked to leave. The lobby is teeny so there was no place to avoid her.
The staff at the Phoenix Park was so helpful and friendly. We even got a letter under the door the night before the eclipse, that they had glasses for the guests while they lasted. That was so awesome, since we had forgotten ours at home. Also great coffee and coco drinks available any time of the day! Nearby activities: Perfect location for spending time at the National Mall. Easy walking distance but also so close to Union Station and the DC Circulator for those tired feet days.
Nice place to stay with great bar and food below it. Food & drinks: Dubliner right below. Great meals and live music daily.
The Dubliner bar, connected to the Phoenix Park Hotel, is an establishment I've been visiting for 40 years. The drink is outstanding, as is the ambience, but the food has taken a dive, IMO. Stick to the fish & chips. Both the Irish Stew and the Shepherds Pie.
