We booked, arrived and were greeted almost with disdain by the front-of-house person; we waited for service while the employees hung out chatting loudly at the back of the empty restaurant as we grew hungry watching the fake plastic candle in the jar on the table. After being ignored and then bored so reading the menu again, we left. However, on reading the menu, one thing did strike us as strange - this is a restaurant that specialises in small plates to share, so why do they charge an addtional fee for sharing? ...It's like a place specializing in Pizza and then charging extra if you want your pizza circular. Weird.
We went to Petiscos "Downtown" in San Jose for dinner with four adults on a Sunday night. The place is pretty, the food is good, and the people working there are friendly. Everything was good, not amazing but not bad either, just okay. The best things we ate were the house salad and the beans and olives to start with. The meatballs and grilled shrimps were good too. The drinks we had were good too. It's a nice spot to eat, and I'd say it's about a 4 out of 5. Vegetarian options: Lots of them, at least half of the menu
Overpriced and portions are soooo small.
It was difficult to find Portuguese inspiration in several of the dishes. I really hope it was just a bland night. Will try again soon.
Food was mediocre at best, prices were high, portions were small, and the water tasted a bit off. I wish the waiter had left a carafe of water at the table or filled it more frequently.
