The pizza here seemed OK, but they were inconsistent in their cooking. However, the night we visited was on Pi day (3-14) so because of that they were probably more busy than usual and it seemed like there was not enough staff to handle everybody even though there were lots of tables that were open they just needed more staffing. We ordered multiple cheese pizzas and they definitely use high-quality cheese and I ordered one with extra sauce and one without, and I will say that both of them the sauce was not equally distributed properly but again could be related to staff shortages. I will say that adding the extra I would recommend when it is not busy and equally distributed would be very enjoyable. I do plan to come back and try some other items and I will say that the Italian salad with Italian dressing was very good and one of the best Italian, salad dressings that I've had although a little bit more black pepper than I would have preferred so it does have a decent kick their macaroni and cheese was perfectly cooked. However, the sauce was more cream than butter, cheese or garlic, so it was very creamy but lacking flavor. Again, I don't know if that is due to them being so extremely busy or not but overall our experience was pretty decent given the circumstances.
Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is located off W McDowell Rd just east of N 107th Ave in Avondale. Our party was quickly greeted with a friendly hello as soon as we walked into the restaurant. During our entire visit, all the staff we interacted with were super friendly and pleasant. Parry's has a combination of booths, tables, and bar seats as well as a fairly large outdoor patio area. The patio area has a couple TVs out there. It also has a couple bar height tables with a roll up door, so you can sit inside and look out, or outside and look in, pretty cool. I'd say Parry's has at least 50 beers on draft, and good ones too. I will say, they have do have a nice selection of local craft beers which is always nice. The food was delicious! The pizza crust was out of this world. I don't usually eat pizza crust but this was too good to pass up. They have a lot to chose from on their menu, but I think I'd get the pizza again and probably pair it up with one of their Bloody Mary's. I'll get one of those next time I drop in.
Unfortunately for our family Parry’s Pizza was just not a hit. We stopped by when in the area since we love to try new pizza spots whenever we get the chance. First impression was the parking lot was pretty crammed. It was a bit hard to find a space with all the restaurants sharing the space. I did like that they had a large outside patio. When we walked inside there was a large full bar, plenty of tvs to watch sports with an open area connecting the bar to outside. We had to wait a bit for a hostess to show up and once he did we were greeted. However, he definitely seemed to be having a rough day or at least he acted like it. The restaurant was fairly large and clean. Our waitress came over quickly, took our drink orders and allowed us some time to look over the menu. We ended up with the game time special that came with pizza, wings and their garlic parm bites. I also ordered a small house salad. Everything came out fairly quickly. The salad for me was the best part of the entire meal. Fresh, flavorful and a bit different from your typical basic garden salad. This one included banana peppers, black olives, mixed greens, Parmesan mix etc. the pizza looked great, but fell short. No real flavor. Tasted like basic tomato sauce, no kick to anything including the pepperoni. Pretty doughy pizza. I’d of preferred a bit crispier and definitely more seasoning. The wings were baked which is usually an instant no for me, but we gave them a try. They appeared pretty dry, but were actually moist and ok flavor, but wouldn’t order again. As for the parm bites; a hard no. While the portion was large, they were dry, chewy and lacked flavor. No real butter taste and the Parmesan wasn’t sticking at all . They went mostly untouched. Bummer. I will say prices were decent and the beer selection pretty large.
Amazing with really good waiters food was really good
Food is great. Bar service is great. We're pretty regular in both the bar and restaurant. However, twice we've had a bad experience with service in the restaurant, which has caused us to get up and leave. Both times were not busy nights, but the servers never came by our tables to wait on us. We're not impatient people, but when you see them constantly helping the same 4 tables and even helping tables that have been seated after us, it's time to cut out losses. We've talked this restaurant up a lot, but not anymore.
Pizza and drinks hit the spot. Bartender was on point.
3/1/2024 @ approx. 4:45pm My mom and I ordered Garlic Cheesy Bread appetizer and Fettuccine Alfredo and I ordered 6 piece boneless wings with fries. There was a table of 4 next to us who arrived after we did and they got their appetizers before my mom got her food. Took them 10 minutes to bring out her undercooked, dry, Luke warm pasta. My food came 10 to 15 minutes later (my mom was 3/4 done with her pasta. My food was warm and looked like they spooned the sauce on my wings, fries were under cooked and cold. 3/4 of the way through then they come out and tell us our garlic cheesy bread will be out shortly. 5 minutes later they come out and said they did not like the way it looked so they put another one in. I told them to just cancel the order. He said ok. Then 5 minutes later he comes out with the bread and said he already took it off the order, but we can have it free. I said ok box it up and we will take it with us because we are already done. Waitress brought it out asked us if anything else we wanted, we said no. Then she walked away and took another order. Took her 3 times to come to our table before she got a clue we were ready to leave. This is the 3rd time we had this experience. They are all out of chances.. NEVER AGAIN WILL MY ENTIRE FAMILY SET FOOT ON THAT PROPERTY.
I had the most pleasant experience last night at Parrys, best wings in Avondale. But what I was most impressed by was our waitress Andrea. Andrea's upbeat personality, willingness to listen to my special wing request, and knowledge of the menu, truly demonstrated she enjoys what she does.
