Saint Louis casual dining at its historical finest.
5 stars in every category. I've been eating at O'Connell's since the Gaslight Sq. days -- right next to Your Father's Mustache where I worked. Must reply to whoever said the takeout was unacceptable. A few years (pre-covid) I tried to get takeout for my wife who was at Barnes Hosp. Takeout wasn't available. So Iordered two of whatever she wanted and wrapped up the "left-overs". They were still good.
The kitchen has been spot on, when it's open. It's a funky neighborhood bar in a somewhat dodgy neighborhood. I love it here. I like bars like this. Be aware of your surroundings but, enjoy if this is your jam.
awesome corned beef Sammy. French fries and chili are great. don't forget the gooey butter cookie! it is best in class.
Fast friendly service. The corned beef sandwich was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and loaded with corned beef. The place had and old fashioned feel and has been a part of St Louis for decades
Great food, and atmosphere.
I love this place! Dinner was awesome, minus the old dude mean mugging us at the bar. Sir, don't worry, I'm not attempting to use your restroom lol have some manners
My burger was ordered medium. It was raw. I didn't know whether to throw it in the trash or take it to the vet to see if they could save the cow. My wife went to O'Connell's today for a work thing and ordered a burger and fries, to go, for me. I was excited because I haven't had an O'Connell's burger in years. They USED to be the "best burgers in St. Louis." Now, I doubt they're even the best on their block.
