Stunning spread of delicious food.
I was very skeptical coming into this place due to the location but once I got inside the owner made me feel more comfortable and relaxed. The vibe inside has a calm and peaceful setting which makes you forget that you are in Norfolk for a bit. Due to a lot of people dining and dashing apparently you have to pay for your meal first before receiving them. Lucky for me I didn’t have to pay first but it was posted on the menu. You also have to pay for water which isnt a problem for me. I ordered the kimbop, japchae and Tteokbokki. Every time you dine in it comes with your traditional Korean sides. The meals were ok, it tasted like a home cooked meal then a restaurant quality. The reason on why I am giving this a three star is because of the nice Korean lady. It’s because of her I will be giving this place another shot. Kimbop 3/5 Tteokbokki 2/5 Japchae 3/5
As a long time customer, I brought a friend with me to try Norfolk Garden for the first time and ranted and raved about how good it is. And of course, it was the WORST service I've ever had in my life there. We ended up leaving after waiting for 20 minutes just to be acknowledged and a large party came in AFTER us and took primary focus. Only AFTER they had been helped, did the waitress deem to come over and help us. The entire time she was downright rude, huffing, puffing, rolling her eyes, tapping her foot. Then when we tried to order food, almost everything we tried to order she said they were too busy to make (which was not a problem for the large party that was there). So eventually she literally snatched the menus from our hands and just walked away and we just looked at each other in complete shock and took our business elsewhere. Norfolk Garden, you may have good food but, you need to get your staff together. That treatment was extremely embarrassing bringing someone from out of town and having told them how good it was to be treated so poorly. We were paying customers just like the large table and should have been treated with the same respect. Shame on you! I will never suggest this place to anyone again. And there are plenty of other places to go now to get good Korean BBQ that treat you better.
Everything was a hit downs to the scenery food and service deficit coming back
I always order squid stir fry and it’s always perfect. The owner is always polite and helpful. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone.
The owner of Norfolk Garden is the sweetest woman. She makes all the sides personally and they are delicious! Additionally, the decor provides a relaxing atmosphere. The spicy chicken shrimp keeps me coming back time and time again! The Kalbi is fantastic as well. Worth giving a try.
I have eaten here before and the food is good. I tried to have lunch today and the service was horrible. I walked in and the only other patrons were about 6 men. One by of them was about to greet me before the hostess came and she gave me the look like “what do you want here?” I had to tell her that I wanted to be seated for lunch. She showed me to a table and I didn’t see her anymore for a bout 5 mins when she came back and I asked me what I wanted. From her attitude I felt like I was disturbing a secret meeting or something so I asked if it was okay for lunch; like were they operating for lunch. She said “the sign is up that says open” and walked away shaking her head. So from that, I took it that my business wasn’t wanted there. I went across the street to the Mongolian place.
