This is a fabulous restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin, right on the isthmus. If you aren't already a foodie when you walk in, you will be one when you walk out. The small plates that have given them a much deserved, impeccable reputation are simply exquisite. They start with the highest quality ingredients and create tantalizing taste combinations that awaken your palette. There are melt in your mouth, new takes on simple comfort food like a biscuit and a sweet potato that burst in your mouth as they sooth your mind and body after a full day. And there are the daring show off new spins on Brussels sprouts and beef tartare that are ingredient driven firework shows for your taste buds. And while everything you are eating and the restaurant's own unique cocktails are stunningly elegant, and the servers and bartenders are knowledgeable and erudite- the restaurant vibe is one of comfort and inclusion. Everyone in the kitchen is well versed in what they are preparing, and they work together like a well-oiled machine. Plates are served hot as they are prepared, so you have a seamless dining experience. Fresh, robust, and delicious food and an easy laid back atmosphere are what's for dinner at Mint Mark!
Looking forward to their new expanded location. Incr edible as always.
Always love this restaurant. Had many small plates, all were delicious.
Dined at Mint Mark for a recent anniversary, and it was a fun experience. Arriving at ~6:00 on a Thursday night the wait was about 45 minutes. This was a better alternative to the 8:00 PM reservation we were able to make a few weeks prior. We went down the street for a drink while we waited, and they texted once the table was ready. Front house staff were super. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and offered great advice and recommendations on food and pairing. The cocktails were excellent, and they allowed me to tailor one to my preference which I appreciated. The food was very good. I'm not the biggest fan of small-plate as I often find that the dish is potent and relies on sauces which make the experience more intense, rather than letting the dish speak for itself. Mint Mark didn't quite go that far; I did have a few dishes where I wished the sauce was dialed back so I could enjoy the actual ingredients, but all-in-all it was a wonderful experience and I'd be open to going back. The duck, biscuit, and sprouts were especially great. 5/5 on the duck and biscuit. Three drinks and five plates came out to around $150 with tip, so quite affordable for the quality and experience.
