My sister's and I always meet there for a family lunch. Great service, food, and atmosphere! Very cozy!
Great place to meet friends for a beer.
Just a little update on my previous post! An absolutely brilliant time was had by all at The American yesterday for the St Patrick’s Day celebration! As we say in Belfast, the craic was 90! I hadn’t been in the pub for a while and what an incredibly warm welcome we had! A friend of ours from Guelph joined and she just loved the pub and the atmosphere! She couldn’t believe how friendly everyone was, customers included of course! The staff, (Alyssa, CJ, Bjorn, to name a few) and Melanie, (one of the owners), out-did themselves as always! Great service, music, food and incredible warmth. If you haven’t been to this restaurant/ pub, you are missing out big time. We are so lucky to have such a great local! Oh, and the prices for the quality of the food and drinks beats all, during these crazy times, in which we all now live! ☘️ The American is the one restaurant/ pub in Waterdown that has managed to keep the quality of their food up there, whilst not raising the prices too much, unlike many other places! In my opinion, it’s the best pub in Waterdown for the quality of their grub, prices, service and staff! I must give a shout out to all of the staff, (as they are all lovely), but Alyssa and C.L, (who mostly serve us) always give us the best service and the best craic too! Kudos to everyone involved in running this pub! It’s a gem!
This place is becoming my favorite lunch spot.
A variety of dishes were ordered around the table of 8 adults, including soups, fish & chips, fish tacos, burgers, shepherd's pie and chicken curry. The fish dishes were well liked, but the other dishes were lackluster. The curry was bland and not particularly tasty, the burgers were very basic and the shepherd's pie was underwhelming. The service and ambience were great, but I've had much better pub food elsewhere.
I've tried about 11 items on the menu and I have lot's more to go! Really good food here. The locals look serious but friendly. 2 adults dined here several times and we keep returning here when we're in the area, that says a lot. We have yet to try the surrounding restaurants - some day. Thanks! Parking: It's paved
