So sad to see that such a lovely place like that has a rude manager. Yesterday Thursday, 18th April they wouldn’t wait on us. We are 6 people from Italy and we’ve been dining there for 2 weeks. We had to wait from 7.00 pm to 8.20 before being served because they said “ we hadn’t reserved a table” so they served us dinner after all the guests had left the restaurant. Maybe they wanted to respect Italy’s tradition of dinner at 8.00? On top of that, when we complained the manager didn’t apologise but just found all sorts of excuses like blaming the waitress. Decor old and tired , hygiene left a lot to be desired especially the very impressive cob web in ladies toilets. And it was a really cold temperature in the building. Food average ,poor quality ingredients On a positive staff very warm and welcoming but clearly under staffed .
Food was nice and good value for money, especially as they offer emergency services discount. The decor is lovely. Update: Apr 24 Sadly had a less positive experience on our 2nd visit: lots of menu choices unavailable, including the entire cocktail menu. The service was very slow, although the servers were nice and polite.
The food was fairly priced Not accurate on the description portions are small. Even the smother platters are small. We had 2 courses First the mains come out (3 of us) One gets dropped on the floor Other 2 meals are missing bits Puddings come out The banoffe cheesecake advertised with a Carmel sauce comes out covered in chocolate sauce I wouldn't have ordered it I don't like chocolate sauce and we wasn't asked if an alternative was ok The brownie isn't advertised with nuts Yet contains them. The only good thing to be honest was the gent on the bar was very bubbly happy polite The lady waitress was less than interested like she would rather be anywhere than there We wasn't allowed to sit in the restaurant had to sit in the pub yet there was plenty of empty tables Masses of them in the restaurant I'd not be in a hurry to return
Lovely place, good food but hopelessly understaffed. People leaving or being turned away as only 2 staff between bar and restaurant. The staff were magnificent considering the pressure. At least 3 needed and for one extra could have handled more tables and taken more. Definitely some customers will not be back.
