Came here a few days ago and food was great compliments to the cooks and my waiter was great! Would recommend to eat here for the food but management on the other hand while im eating i can hear them and they're very sh1tty, they don't know how to treat their employees specially Catey talking sh1t about your employees while there's customers around is not how managers work! Other then that waiters and hostests great service!
This was our first time at Lupi & Iris, and we will be back! The drinks and food were fantastic as well as the service (our waitress was amazing). Thank you all for a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary!
My husband and I dined here for our wedding anniversary last night and it was our first time coming here. We had a reservation but it was busy so we waited at the bar for a little bit. We started with a drink there. Husband ordered a mule that looked like a margarita and wasn’t served in a copper mug. Big miss for a fancy restaurant. My drink was a lemon drop and it was strong and tasty but they don’t have grey goose lemon so that was weird. At the table the hostess sat us down and gave us menus. She did not open the menus for us or lay my napkin down in my lap which are both customary high end restaurant service points. She did give us a card though that was nice. Server came by saw we had drinks so we didn’t need cocktails but asked us about waters. I wanted sparkling he wanted still. She brought mine out right away but it took a while to get his water. When we ordered we started with appetizers. I had trout cheese dish and a risotto. Risotto was very thick and didn’t have enough flavor for me so I asked server for cheese. It took me asking her three times for it to receive that and finally by then it was mostly cold. Some older man brought out my husbands octopus dish and asked me if I wanted a plate too to share it… he wasn’t too observant as I had two dishes already in front of me. I told him no thank you that’s his dish I have mine. He liked his octopus. I liked the trout dish. Good flavor and plated presentation. Entree he had the Saturday special it was a tender beef dish. I had the sea bass which I liked but the vegetable on the plate was very underwhelming. It was essentially red peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes, and carrots with some undercooked potatoes. Definitely not a gourmet side dish. Needs work on that. Restaurant itself was pretty. Clean and functional. Service as a whole from all who we interacted with needs polishing especially at a high end place. Food was pretty much all good though. For dessert they gave us some free cookies and sparkling wine for anniversary. A little underwhelming on the dessert for such a fancy place. Most places will offer a free cheesecake or something. We liked it overall but service was our biggest thing we noticed needs some tuning. Is a nice place though.
Have been here twice and hands down, this is one of my favorite restaurants. Amazing drinks, incredible food that is both simple and refined as well as amazing service. Highly recommend!
Awesome and excellent food. Great food, great taste and a great fine dining experience. The food just tasted totally fresh and showed the great culinary skills of the chef. Fantastic place
Truthfully, I am struggling to write this review, as we have dined with Lupi and Iris in the past with a varying level of experience each time. Tonight however was difficult. Each visit we have sat at the Chefs Counter. The first time we were served the meal ordered by the couple next to us. It was take away with much apology by the team and our orders promptly replaced. The second experience was good despite a scheduling issue but, from the Sommelier’s recommendations, to the food and interactive experience, we wanted to make the trip back to Milwaukee just for L&I again. Tonight our wine was on point; however, the food was just abysmal. The Pulpo a la Parilla (octopus) was overcooked, burnt almost and chewy. We wanted to dabble in the menu and ordered a Spaghetti all’Astice (lobster tail) and the NY Strip. Both were so bland, the lobster was like rubber and the steak, I have no words…. We never saw our waiter more than twice. The waitstaff at the POS system right in front of our counter seats were constantly complaining negatively about other guests. We have been a later counter seating before, but never until tonight have they started their tear down in the way that just threw things around as if we were not even there. Yes it’s the “experience” of the counter, but it was so out of the norm I had to call this out as well in my review. When our waiter finally came to clear our barely touched plates, he stated he didn’t expect us to order dessert, as he didn’t want to disappoint us any further this evening!? What is going on here? Saddened by this turn of events, but felt compelled to share in hopes there are areas the restaurant can focus on to improve for others experiences in the future.
We went on a Sunday evening right when they opened at 5pm. Sat at the bar with our party, had great drinks, and the food was amazing! They even had a special card for my girlfriend since it’s her birthday, she got a special desert as well. It was a great evening, Jeff was great, we will come again! We had the cheese wheel with honey, as an appetizer, and I had the lamb chops.
We had a lovely late lunch. I had the grilled octopus appetizer and the mushroom soup. We split the Tarte au Chèvre. I had the Pot de Crème for dessert. It was amazing. Definitely enough for 2. Our server Alex was fantastic. I used the parking structure to park, since it’s connected to the building, and only cost $5. Highly recommended.
