Music was a little dated. Got the yellowtail carpaccio, the foie gras, and the pork sausage. Very tasty, only the sausage could have done with a little more fat. Otherwise, very tasty.
I made an Easter reservation here for myself and 3 others and made a $25 deposit for each of us. It was a special "Easter Brunch" Experience on OpenTable. The $25 deposit turned out to be unnecessary because the restaurant was over half empty. However, staff still seated us right next to the wait station, which made things feel incredibly tight regardless. We went to Le Clou expecting an Easter Brunch menu somewhat similar to their typical Brunch menu (as evidenced on their website) which is a robust menu with the option to add bottomless drinks for $75 per person. No other Brunch Menu was shown on their website. However, the "Easter Brunch Menu" when we arrived was a reduced menu of their typical brunch options. Plus the bottomless option was removed. We assumed this was excluded by mistake and we could ask the waiter for it. Nope. When the waiter arrives he says, "Let me tell you about the bottomless; it's actually not bottomless and you pay by the bottle". No joke. Frustrated, we order the $60 bottle of Prosecco (which just felt like a slap in the face considering we expected $75 bottomless). When the bottle arrives, however, this $60 Prosecco turns out to be a $15 Bisol Jeio Prosecco Brut. I'd just bought a bottle the day before so I knew its price. I'm used to restaurant markups, but $60 for this bottle when we were expecting bottomless was insult to injury. Even more frustrated now, we order food and receive a bland cheese plate with toast (no crackers), no jams, honey or anything remotely exciting. The food from the limited menu we settled for was cooked well, but overpriced and standard fare. After two bottles of ridiculously priced Prosecco and middling food, we decided to cut our losses and leave, $300 poorer than when we came in for no good reason. A Host or Manager never came to our table to ask about the meal. I had high hopes for Le Clou, but I won't be coming back and I won't be recommending it to anyone else either.
Phenomenal. The atmosphere is so relaxing, beautiful, and detailed. Great drinks. Delicious food. A must try in DC/Noma area.
Breakfast was pretty disappointing, I don't know how you can mess up pancakes so bad. Our food was also served to the wrong table even though there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Workers seemed busy but aloof, interior is really nice but the choice of music messed up the ambiance. Lunch or dinner may be a different story, but for breakfast, I'd say just go to the dunkin' donuts or subway nearby. Le Clou has no clue how bad their breakfast is.
Service was very good. Nice staff and good vibes in the restaurant. However the food was nothing to be proud off. I ordered the duck breast with carrots, potatoes etc (brunch menu) came as a pile of bland mush and that was very disappointing. The duck was chewy and was in bits and pieces all over the mush. Not good. Carrots and potatoes undercooked - the plate was a pile of tasteless mush. Nothing tasted fresh. And my old fashioned stated like it was completely watered down… Disappointed. Anyway… great service, nice people, good vibes, but food needs help desperately.
Booked for Valentine’s Day. I don’t understand how there’s a fixed menu and they not only run out of part of the menu but it took 2 hours for the food to come out. Then the food was mediocre. The service was good, maybe on a normal night it’d be better.
Overall, the experience was decent, but it just isn't a top restaurant choice for us. We believe it can be worth a try if you haven't been or enjoy French cuisine. Details of our visit are below: My partner and I visited on a Saturday night, and it wasn't very busy, but the service was a bit slow and the restaurant seemed understaffed. Despite this, our waiter, Juan (who was also the bartender) did an excellent job serving us even though he was extremely busy. The drinks were a little but underwhelming, and my partner ordered a beverage from the mocktail menu, which was served as an alcoholic beverage. The team corrected this and brought the correct drink, and went so far as to offer me a complimentary glass of champagne and take the drink off the bill to make it right, which was much appreciated. The escargot appetizer was a little bit disappointing to us, but it was our first time trying such a dish. We didn't like the earthy taste, but we also aren't sure if that's just how it tastes anywhere. We ordered the Canard and Steak Frites for our main courses, and both were delicious! It definitely made up for our mistake in selecting an appetizer. The slow service prevented us from ordering a dessert, as our meal took about an hour and a half to that point and we were just ready to head home.
Sat at the bar on a Thursday evening. Great customer service and drinks from the bartender Juan. Thank You!
We had a really nice, attentive server named Juan. The food took a long time, but it was delicious and certainly worth the wait. Juan made up for the wait with hospitality, hooking us up with some Prosecco and delicious desserts on the house. The vibe of the place was awesome, too--comfy, stylish, good music, relaxed lighting. Definitely go if you've got time for an experience of fantastic food!
