Some good items for sure but lacks variety. I wish there were more protein options instead of all being soy derived. Sure there are salads and other things but a lot are bland and not very well thought dishes. The French Onion soup was delicious and the salads fresh. We also ordered a bowl that has rice, beans and steamed veggies and were so disappointed. It was mushy and tasted like nothing. It comes with a peanut sauce that doesn’t do it any favors. We wised they had a full size burger, some Latin inspired dishes to bring some color/fun flavors to the current menu. Service is always friendly. We just wish we could be exited to go back but we’re not. It gets boring fast.

We have been visiting the Laughing Seed Cafe for years. This week I had the Lotus Grain Bowl for brunch and it was delightfully fresh, bright, and flavorful. I will definitely order this bowl again. Whenever I visit a restaurant, I look for cholesterol buster options, which means I'm looking for dishes that are meat-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and fried-free (fried vegetables will not help me meet my cholesterol reducing goals). Vegetarian options: The whole menu is vegetarian, and they also offer a large variety of vegan dishes. Dietary restrictions: The menu is clearly marked for dietary restrictions.

Delicious vegetarian and vegan food

If you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, or any combo of the above (or even if you aren't) RUN, don't walk to this delightfully charming, secret garden meets whimsical spa café where your tastebuds will dance! I had the tostada ensalada. The "chorizo" paired perfectly with the creamy cashew nacho sauce and the pickled jalapeños gave it the perfect amount of kick! My not gluten free and unvegan SAD diet husband even enjoyed the roma-roni pizza. Note there is a 3% upcharge added to the bill to tip the kitchen staff, but why wouldn't you want to pay this when the food is so over the top satisfying?! (The fee can be removed upon request but I highly discourage it.) We were going to go to Chai Pani (our usual fave when we visit Asheville) but the wait was 45 minutes. Imagine our joy when we walked in here and got seated immediately and only waited about 15 to 20 mins for our gourmet grub to arrive vía our cheerful waitress with the seriously crafty and adorable potted plant earrings! (She needs to set up a side biz selling those at a display upon exit). So Asheville, we have a new fave. Long live laughing seed! Severely disappointed, from what I saw online the food appeared very appetizing. We were seated promptly and they took our orders. Our drinks came out and we waited about 20 minutes when our server approached and let us know an item we ordered actually wasn't available. I was extremely surprised to hear it took them 20 minutes to discover they didn't have Gluten Free bread for a sandwich order, and after replacing the order with the harmony bowl we waited an additional 20 minutes for our food. The harmony bowl was steamed vegetables over white rice and unseasoned beans with unseasoned grilled tempeth. The slider my partner ordered what flavorless and crumbling, smelled burned. We saw our server 3 times over the hour visit. It's unfortunate because we were really excited to try this restaurant but it really left us both very disappointed. They no doubt had noticed the situation as they offered us free dessert and that is appreciated, but mostly a bandage on a bullet wound. Though the dessert we got was extremely good. Very powerful blend of flavors in the cheesecake! I will not be naming our server. Dietary restrictions: The bread they had run out of was the Gluten Free variety. This was at 5pm... opening time and they had already run out of items

The Laughing Seed has a well thought out menu, great flavors, and a caring staff. They went above and beyond today! Thank you!
