Beautiful place to visit, fabulous restaurant for lunch, lovely wine and homemade food. Or coffee and delicious cakes. There's nowhere like the veranda, draped with wisteria looking over gorgeous gardens. Amazing selection of plants for sale and planted in extensive and lovely gardens, divided by stone walls that look like they belong to an abandoned mediaeval monastery. A wonderful gift shop, art and craft gallery and an amazing selection of statuary.
Wonderful garden centre, even in the rain. They had what we wanted, and the cafe provided a welcoming hot drink and lovely cake.
My 5 stars are in relation to the garden nursery. I didn't go to the restaurant. The choice of quality plants is amazing.
Regular visitor to cafe. Food good, service pleasant
Lovely atmospheric plant nursery with lots to view. Talked my partner into holding off on lunch so we could travel 1hour 20 minutes and 70 miles to finally enjoy the restaurant. We arrived just in time for lunch and patiently waited to be seated. We sat and waited for 10-15 minutes on the top floor in the big window with absolutely no service. Understanding that it was a busy time we continued to wait. In this time a group of three women seated themselves by clearing a dirty table onto a reserved table. Within seconds they were attended to by a waitress. Feeling agasped and clearly snubbed which was also felt by the table on the other side who were very aware of the extensive time we had waited only to be jumped. We decided that this was not somewhere we wanted to continue to frequent as the ocassion had been ruined and so left. Not a person of management or control to be seen anywhere. My wife and I do not get many opportunities to have a nice meal out together and the fact I had pushed to delay lunch until we arrived and the fact that due to the location. This meant we had to skip lunch which you can imagine was beyond disapointing. Despite this set back we remained to look around the nursery. To finish off the lackluster experience after making quite a sizable purchase in the plant area we recieved no greetings or pleasantries and were made to feel like unimportant custom and overall very unwanted.
Lovely service in the café - looking out at the rain on the beautiful pond. Top quality plants - amazing choices and some great perennials for shade. The astrantia I bought was ready for division - so excellent value - and all the other plants were very healthy. The member of staff on the till was very friendly too.
It was years ago now but I still remember it til this day, by far the best food I have ever had, a simple tomato and garlic pizza followed by a goats cheese and roasted vegetable lattice pie, so good I can almost taste it now, 5 stars isn't enough
Loved our visit and lunch
Great selection of plants, great polite service
