Excellent food and service with reasonable prices. We just happened to drop in without a reservation and we’re pleasantly surprised. Our server was a gem and made us feel special, and his recommendations informed our choices. The House salad is scrumptious! Vegetarian options: The gnocchi was divine, as reported by our genuine Italian guest.

Service: 5 stars The staff is very polite and provides the appropriate amount of attentiveness. It was the best service that I have experienced in a very long time. In particular, David, Kathy and Sarah were both exceptional. Food: 5 stars The food was the closest I have had to an authentic Italian meal in Surrey/White Rock. I have been to Italy many times and the chef (Luigi) did a phenomenal job. Some people have commented on the ambience. I found it to be quite charming. It is far from modern, but very clean. It has the appearance of a family-owned restaurant in an Italian village. I enjoyed it.

Excellent service and food highly reccomend this beautiful little restaurant. Dietary restrictions: As I can't eat shellfish, there is a majority of the menue I can not eat. However, the meals I can are always fantastic, and the staff always are sure not to contaminate which is greatly appreciated

We went there for Valentine's Day in 2023. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this place any time they do a fixed menu. There were several big problems with our night encompassing the food, service, and overall experience at the restaurant: Food: The only thing offered was a set menu, which wasn't clear on the website. The site did mention a Prix Fixe Valentine's menu, but I assumed this was an option and not the only thing offered. Everything we had tonight was either bland, poorly cooked, or clumsily presented. The scallop and bean puree was a single, small scallop that was falling apart served on a pea puree that was stodgy and bland. My wife and I both had the sea bass entrée, which had a decent tasting sauce but was the fish was slightly overcooked and was served skin side down, making it super floppy and unappetizing. We only had this because one of the options was sold out by the time we got there at 7:30. The worst was the risotto that we both had, which was the most tasteless, undercooked risotto I've ever had and seemed devoid of any wine, butter, or cheese you would expect to taste in a dish like this. Service: Yes, the restaurant was busy. But it's a relatively small restaurant and they had quite a few staff working. No one was the least bit friendly or accommodating and no one explained anything that was going on. Simple things like drinks and bread refills either needed to be requested multiple times or were left unfulfilled. Experience: You pick a place like this because you want to have a nice romantic dinner. Before we were sat we were told we were going to be sat a different table where we'd be more comfortable, essentially indicating that we were too large to sit where they had initially booked for us. Which is fine, but in the future if you make a change like that you're best not to say anything as it made us feel a little self-conscious as soon as we got there. Then the first thing that happened when we sat down was a bottle of wine was hastily dropped on the table and the price was so quickly said that we couldn't understand it before the hostess ran off. As we were waiting we noticed everyone working seemed very stressed out and no one was engaging with anyone. Wait staff were running around trying to find things and were openly bickering with each other. The whole thing felt like they were trying to capitalize on people looking for a romantic night out and they were wholly unprepared for the number of people they had booked. The price for everything was $178 before tax, including $10 for drinks. For reference, at time of posting you can get a 6oz Filet, 16oz Ribeye, Caesar Salad, Baked Potato and Brussel Sprouts, a soda and a beer at Gotham Steakhouse for $207. I believe this restaurant could be good, and it very well might be better when it's not a marquee night like Valentine's Day. But nights like these are when you want your experience to be the best, and tonight wasn't their night.

What a fantastic menu and location. Everyone in our party had a tough time picking their entre as we loved so many of the offerings. Lobster ravioli, bolognese, lasagna and vognole were what we settled on with fried calamari, carpaccio, and bruchetta for appetizers. The bread and oil/vinegar were delicious, too. I asked my server to choose a pinot grigio for me to have with my dinner and was thrilled with the one he picked. Folonari will now be stocked in my wine fridge at home. The icing on the cake last night was the free parking!! Every other restaurant on the White Rock strip was packed with no nearby parking. Not LA Baia! I've no idea why this gem wasn't busier. With food this good at really reasonable prices it should be far busier than it is. We will definitely be back. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor business with ground floor seating. Bathroom could be an issue as it is up a set of 2 stairs.
