A remarkable ice cream shop in Washington, DC. The butter pecan flavor is truly exceptional, setting it apart from any other ice cream, leaving you in awe of its incredible flavor profile. I highly recommended that you make a visit and experience it for yourself. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed. This ice cream shop is a must-visit destination when in DC Navy Yard, offering a delightful and unforgettable experience. You will be forever grateful for this treat.
VERY cute shop and delicious ice cream, the staff was just the kindest 5 minutes you can get. The shop was immaculate, and the displays make you want to buy everything in site..enter with caution or your will come out with bags like we did. GETS A Fat YES, go by.
Kilwins Chocolate & Ice Cream is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly made waffle cones and chocolate. The shop is immaculately clean, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.
The ice cream is incredibly creamy and rich, with a wide variety of flavors that will satisfy any craving. I tried the salted caramel and the toasted coconut, and both were phenomenal. The chocolates and fudge are also top-notch—decadent, smooth, and bursting with flavor.
What sets Kilwins apart is the quality of their ingredients and the care they put into making each treat. You can watch them make the confections right in the store, which adds a fun and engaging element to the experience.
Whether you're a local or just visiting, Kilwins is a must-visit spot. It's the perfect place to indulge your sweet tooth and enjoy a bit of nostalgia with their classic confections. Highly recommend!
My absolute favorite treat is the dark chocolate caramel apple with sea salt. Nothing compares to this delicious apple. No other place does it better, all ingredients are premium.
Everyone likes candy and ice-cream...all of which tasted fine. My issue is with the operations (which is why most franchises eventually struggle as it always comes down to keeping costs as low as possible and gouging the customer). This is considered a higher-end option, where it is normal to spend $40 per pound on chocolate and $9 for a single scoop of ice-cream (again no issue with this). The issue is with how the ice-cream is served. There is a scale near the counter and upon serving the "scoop" it is thoroughly weighed as if they are serving gold or performing a medical procedures to make sure you aren't getting too much product....and it was super small; my 6 year old asked for another scoop. When i asked if that is all that you get, the server said "yes it weighs x # of ounces"... the scoop didn't even surpass the side of the cup they serve it in. If they are looking to expand operations, they need to make changes to get repeat customers. Currently an over priced and underwhelming tourist trap that is more concerned with the decoration of the store then the product they give to the customers.
Makiens service was extremely professional and as elegant as the chocolates served at Kilwins. The soft but enthusiastic phenomena his personality brings to Kilwins is nothing short of Oscar worthy and as welcoming as a smooth whiskey on a parched throat. Truly, a master of his craft. I will be returning for him.
Chocolates were pretty good too
