Halal restaurant serving authentic Turkish food. One of the few restaurants I keep returning to year after year. A hidden gem, family owned and run. Very respectful and cordial. Albanian liver and doner kebab are to die for. Not a Michelin star establishment but more enjoyable than many of them. True comfort food. Dietary restrictions: Halal
It's a really comfortable, quiet place, the photo below makes it seem bright, but that's just because my phone adjusted the brightness according to my camera. There was a huge choice of items on the menu including vegetarian, lamb, chicken, beef, and fish. There was a full set of appetizers, desserts, wine and beer. I had chicken in mushroom sauce with rice pilaf, it came with a salad. It was a lot of food for one person to eat, and it was delicious.
The food is always exceptional! Doner is my favorite here. For dessert , I always get Kazandibi. This restaurant has been in Mclean area over 40 years so they never disappoint you. Recommending anyone who wants to try Turkish cuisine.
We went to Kazan last night for dinner and it was refreshing to still see a mom and pop restaurant in the area be so busy. We started with the Albanian liver and the meze for two. For the main course, we got the doner kebab, swordfish kebab and the lamb shank. The food was superb and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
By far one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV. This Turkish cuisine has always amazed me with its rich and diverse flavors, providing an authentic Turkish experience. From the warm welcome at the entrance to the attentive and knowledgeable staff, the service here complements the culinary delights perfectly. The prompt seating and clear communication about the menu add to the overall positive dining experience. The chef's expertise shines through in dishes like the succulent doner kebab and the outstanding imam bayildi. It's not just a meal; it's a journey through the vibrant and flavorful tapestry of Turkish gastronomy. The delightful ambiance, a mix of dim lighting and Turkish music, creates the perfect setting for a memorable meal. This restaurant is a true gem, where exceptional service harmonizes with the culinary artistry, making each visit a delightful and authentic Turkish dining adventure. Whether you're a regular like myself or a first-timer, I promise you'll have a fantastic time at Kazan Restaurant.
We visited on Saturday night, and unfortunately, the elderly hostess made us feel like an inconvenience right from the start. Despite available tables inside, she seated us in a cold corner under a tent. The lack of hospitality from the hostess was disheartening, as attitude is everything in life. Now, turning to the main event—the food. The doner kebab was a major letdown; the meat lacked flavor and was excessively oily, making it the worst we've ever had. While the lentil soup was okay, the mushy rice was another disappointment. We no longer trust the past 5-star comments given by the restaurant; it seems like a scam. Considering our combined experiences with doner kebabs across various states, including Turkey, this meal at Kazan was undoubtedly the most unsatisfactory one. We hope our feedback helps improve the overall dining experience for others, particularly addressing the host's demeanor and the quality of the doner kebab. It's worth noting that our waiter was a standout, providing excellent service and being the only positive aspect of our experience.
