I have bought cakes from this bakery when she was at her previous location. I walked into her bakery on a Friday early afternoon not long after they opened. I opened the door and walked in the store. The. lady was at the cake mixer area. I know she heard the door open. She didn't bother to look up or look my way. She kept doing her thing and didn't pay any attention to a waiting customer. She did not have any cake slices ready which should have been cut and ready to sell to her customers. There was one slice of strawberry cake which could have very well been from the day before. I stood there for a minute and after she kept doing her thing and ignoring me, I walked out. I will not give anyone that treats their customers in that manner a dime. If they continue to treat customers in this manner, they won't last.
Original Review: We ordered a cake for my daughters birthday. It tasted good and was cute. However we were very disappointed that it started to bulge at the base on both sides shortly after we set it out. Had to cut it sooner than we would have liked so it didn’t completely collapse. Owner response: Thank you for informing us about your cake. We show the cake during pick up and it was in great condition. The air pocket, bulge, or droop in the icing could be a result of transporting the cake or a temperature change. The cake should be refrigerated until 1-2 hours before serving. The layers would not collapse. Thank you for the pictures and speaking to us over the phone about your cake order. We appreciate your business. Updated Review: The response received from the owner is extremely disappointing. At pickup- the cake was shown in the box - I wouldn't have been able to see any damage at the bottom of the cake. The top looked great. The cake was transported carefully + properly - and was served almost immediately when we got back to the house (1 hour after pick up). This was already explained over the phone and acknowledged. The "bulge" was noticed right after removing from the box- and it continued to get worse up until it was cut and served. It's frustrating for a business owner to blame a customer for an issue that could have been caused by the construction of the cake or a mistake in the baking process. It's ridiculous to say "the layers would not collapse" -IT HAPPENS- it does not matter if you've "made this cake so many times before". The bottom layer lacked support and this is a contributing factor as to why the cake started to collapse. It would have been appropriate for this to have been acknowledged as a possibility. I will not be ordering from here again due to the poor customer service.
My husband just brought home a selection of the cakes, and oh my gosh they were all delicious. I had hummingbird and my girls had strawberry and snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cupcakes. We are so happy to have found you! **Just an update, don't want to hit your stars, Julie. We drove down from an hour away to get some cake today for our anniversary (we moved and we miss your cake ). The cake is as delicious as ever, but the service was not. I'm not sure what the problem was since we bought what was available (not a lot was set out) and we were pleasant on this fine day. Your employee treated us like she didn't want to deal at all.
The owner was unfriendly, mean spirited and uninviting. Needs to work on customer service as this is a business, correct? Believe the reviews about the owners attitude. Hopefully she can use these reviews and improve and treat all visitors with warmth, paying or not, I almost walked out given the treatment alone. That is, if she wants to keep her business for long.
I loved the strawberry cake! It smells so good inside! WAY better than cake bar. I’ll be back for sure!
Price is reasonable for slice of cake. The flavors were good. I just think that the icing was overly sweet. Staff was friendly and polite environment was cozy would come back again.
Always friendly & the cake is amazing
The German chocolate cake is so delicious, haven’t try the other sweets yet
I have visited at least 20 times over the past few years. I used to live about 10 minutes from Julie's and would visit usually around every other week (now I live an hour away and visit whenever I can). Every single time, the cakes have been AMAZING! Seriously, probably some of the best cake I've ever had. I've recommended to friends and family, and they all agree as well. My husband is obsessed with the rice krispies, and their cookies are delicious as well. The sweets don't last very long as they don't use preservatives (yay!), so try to eat everything within a few days. My favorite cake slice flavors include: red velvet, wedding (the absolute best!), butter layer, and pumpkin spice.
Probably one of the best cakes I had in the area. And btw my wife is a hell Of a baker
