The food was excellent, as usual. However, giving a lower rating because when I made the reservation, I specifically noted it was for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the dessert arrived without a candle, which was a bit disappointing. A small touch like that can make a big difference for special occasions.
Great tapas in a family friendly and welcoming place. We came for breakfast and had mimosas- all the food was really good!
Some of the best food I’ve eaten in a long time! Ordered the calamari, octopus, duck, and skirt steak - each was so delicious. Also the service was fabulous, can’t wait to come back.
If you’re looking for an intimate spot in DC, consider checking out Joselito Casa de Comidas.
The restaurant week menu is tapas. Tapas usually are not my go to as I rather have one larger meal, but there were a few items we tried we really enjoyed. The Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp, garlic, cayenne, EVOO), Calamares fritos (fried squid, lime aioli), and Filete de ternera a la plancha, patatas asadas y chimidurri (hanger steak, roasted potato, and chimichurri) were our favorites! For dessert, we got Flan casero con nata montada (Homemade custard with whipped cream) and Torrijas caseras (Andalusian style bread pudding (served cold)). Both were delicious too. Never had a cold bread pudding but we actually liked it.
We also got Macarrones con salsa de tomate y chorizo, teja de manchego (Penne Pasta with tomato sauce, Spanish chorizo and crispy manchego) and Buñuelos de Brandada de Bacalao con Ali-Oli de Miel (Salted cod fish fritters with honey aioli). They weren’t our favorites.
Their drinks are also really good. I got the sparkling sangria and my friend got a bourbon based drink. The drinks were definitely hitting 😅.
Nice ducked off spot if you also aren’t trying to run into anyone.
Ambiance is nice and the service was okay but could have been a little better since it was pretty empty.
We shared many plates.
We tried paella,octopus,lamb,pork and veggies.
We enjoyed the variety and the quality of the food.
Good selection of wine .
Nice ambience great staff ❤️
Not sure if I had the wrong expectation but my experience at Joselito was meh. The menu was missing a few traditional dishes that one can expect at a tapas restaurant (no tortilla, patatas bravas, etc.). They had a lot of seafood options, but not a ton with meat. We ordered a $80 presa Iberica for my friends who didn't like seafood because they would only be having salads otherwise. My driver friend wanted to order a diet coke and they didn't have that either, so he had to order a non alcoholic beer. Food eas decent but definitely overpriced. A lot of nickel and diming - if you order more than one basket of bread it would be charged $1.5 per person, and 5% fees for the staff that was not part of the tips. The bread is very good, and I supposed it was better to be up front about the fees, but for a place that charged $80 for a meat dish it seemed a bit cheap.
We loved the food and the service!
$9 tapas for happy hour! Yum!
Delicious tapas et al. served in an old world atmosphere restaurant
I had the tuna crudo as a starter, with grilled asparagus and red peppers as a side. The tuna was beyond great! A light, sublime taste of citrus and spices. My wife had grilled octopus with squid ink sauce; very, very good, but not quite the experience as the crudo.
For main courses, we had duck and lamb loin with five spices. Both dishes were medium rare, succulant and grilled perfectly. Thw bottle of wine was a tempranillo/cab blend, which was a superb match for the meats. We highly recommend Josolito's!
I had a fairly disappointing experience at Joselito Casa de Comidas. Coming in for dinner based on an Eater listing I was impressed by the interior atmosphere and staff. However, I was completely underwhelmed by the food for the cost. There are many great tapas spots in DC but this is not one of them. We ordered cod fitters, calamari, baked Chilean sea bass, and sauteed vegetables. While the sea bass was perfectly cooked, the sauce was bland. Both the calamari and vegetables (way, way over salted) felt like they came out of Cisco bulk frozen bags. The cod fitters were ok, but also seemed to lack cod. They were mostly just cheese. There are lots of amazing places eat in eastern market, and this is not one I would recommend.
The food was excellent, service also however the restaurant is quite pricey.
A true hidden gem in Eastern Market. The food is lovely, service was prompt. I fear leaving this review will cause it to blow up but the restaurant deserves it.
