Was greeted in a high-pitch, annoyed tone "Hi there how are you? Can I get you something started?" As I was looking at the food case no where near the till. I was not in a rush and no one was behind me. It was really socially awkward and off putting. I decided to skip food and asked for a dry, extra foam Cappucino to stay. The barista made me a latte. I asked for more foam. They remade it without the extra or dry foam. This barista hadn't been trained to steam the milk properly. Hardly any noise was made to aerate the foam. As a former cafe supervisor, I already made a mental note they lost my business. To my horror, the annoying greeter sat beside me, apparently to interview a barista. They treated them completely condescending like "Do you KNOW ANYTHING about JJ bean? Well, let me tell you..." hardly the family company vibe according to the story. Among the interview questions were completely absurd assertions like "How many times have you baked at home recently?" The high pitch, annoying and demanding voice was consistent. This was one of the worst encounters I've ever had with a cafe manager. I sincerely hope JJ Bean has the grace to address the problems which seem to stem from one individual taking a million dollar view and making it a cringe-worthy experience I won't return to anytime soon. Photo: view out the window before the manager ruined the moment, in between ruined drinks.
