The most Detroit place I've ever seen. The restaurant looks abandoned on the outside but is open for business. Food is on point
Nothing fancy on the outside. Once you get past the front door the place is filled with history, character , friendly people and excellent foods We met the owner Patty who welcomed us to her bar/restaurant.
Excellent service by Tina and Joey.
So between us 5 we tried the 1/3 lb hamburger. Walleye, cod , potato pancakes, huge serving plates of Cole slaw, French fries, and . Perch Everyone rated their dinner a 10. They all tried my Potatoe pancakes and were very impressed. We will be back soon. Get your reservations, closed Mondays, don’t be deceived by what’s left of the old neighborhood. Plenty of Cadillacs parked outside,
Overpriced food that didn't appear to be homemade. Potato pancakes were more like hushpuppies and overdone. Pierogi tasted and looked like Mrs. T's frozen pierogi. Kielbasa was burnt, and all this for $28 per person. Extremely disappointed
Great atmosphere and food. A little small but a cool little place worth visiting.
The place is barely open but if you can get a seat ask about their incredible Chicken Saskatchewan -- tell em Earl sent you ;)
Nice staff good food out of the way all around good
Absolute gem of Hamtramck. Perfect experience. Polish platter was outta sight!
Great food - especially the perch!
I love the Ivanhoe! Tina and the ladies are the best. I don't get that way much anymore but miss lunches there very much. I miss the cocktails too 😄🍸
Visit and enjoy the experience of a historic Detroit restaurant.
A real Detroit original. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! The owners are very friendly and the food is all fresh and homemade. The coleslaw and pickle plate is delicious and served to welcome you. They serve polish beers. The potatoe pancakes were very good. The whole place is a piece of history!
Yes there is such a thing as Polish Cuisine and this is a shrine to it! Been coming here since the early 80's when there were actually houses around it and the place hasn't missed a beat. After my latest visit I realized I never left a review. Cant comment on too much of the menu because I always get the perch or walleye🤣😃which is always excellent. My dining companions no matter what they get always pronounce it great. The atmosphere is like a time warp or 30's replica movie set. Great Polish beers and the best Bloody Mary which is generously spirited. Don't be dissuaded by appearance outside, it's relatively safe by Detroit standards and qualifies as a genuine vicarious experience. Smaczna!
Food always good & consistent
Is a very quaint friendly place to get lunch. The people there are so friendly. It's a very quaint restaurant.
Truly a one-of-a-kind place. Limited hours, great comfort food, homey atmosphere.
Wife & I love this place. My mother actually worked there in the early 50's !!!
The place was like a local town club. The customers here seemed they knew one another. I felt a bit awkward as a foreign stranger, but the owner of the place was kind to me. No need to mention great foods.
