If you’re looking for an authentic Indian restaurant with delicious, quality, Indian tasting flavours, then unfortunately I don’t recommend this place. I really wanted to love it, I’m a big Indian food fan, but it was just so weak and did not deliver on flavour- not a hint of delicious herbs and spices in any of the four dishes I ordered.
I got the buffet special, however they do not lay out the food in buffet style. You simply order whatever you want from a specific buffet menu. This is unfortunate as you don’t get to taste anything before ordering your portion. The menu is filled with options. I ordered the beef Rogan Josh, and chicken korma at first. I asked for medium spicy along with rice and nan.
Both curries were incredibly underwhelming and I honestly thought it was a mistake at first. 0 spice. The tomato based Rogan Josh curry did not have a single pinch of spice, and I don’t just mean chilies. Nothing. Perhaps salt at most. The taste was bland. It tasted like fried tomatoes, and had chunks of tomatoes that were barely cooked in there. It was a bit oily and unappetizing. 0 flavour. 0 spice. The meat wasn’t delicious either. More like an after thought that was added.
I got two other curry dishes without meat this time to judge the spice and the curry itself. Yikes. Still unflavourful. Almost horrible. I did not finish my meal. It felt like it was just a bunch of boiled veggies mixed with barely cooked veggies all fried in oil and some bland spice flavour that somehow was the seasoning for these entire dishes. The texture was a bit off. I don’t taste any onions. I don’t taste any garlic or ginger or any curry leaves or garam masala’s or any other fresh or dried herbs- perhaps dried mint and lemon, but this is a first for me.
Where are the spices? Where are the spices?? Not appealing. Overly oily. The nan tasted like doughy cake. The chicken tasted like it was not marinated, but simply straight up boiled, and then placed into the sauce.
I have concluded that after 38 years of life, this is officially the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I’m so sad to say as they are such lovely and friendly staff, but wow. If you’re craving authentic tasting Indian food, this is not the place for you. I swear to God I wouldn’t eat this for free, let alone 20 euros.
