I moved here from Boise a week and a half ago. Have visited this place 4 times since I have moved here because the food is amazing and actually seasoned or has flavor unlike most the establishments around here. Leaving such a high review because the staff is amazing and have had to wait but never had bad service and the food is good. With that being said the reason I have had to wait upwards of 75 minutes for my food. The reason for waiting 75 minutes is due to the horrible management from the owner of this establishment. Was a server, expo, bartender and front of house manager and did national training at Kona Grill and helped open 7 of their restaurants. If you have an incompetent owner trying to cut costs and run a dinner service with 4 employees including the cooks you are setting your employees up for failure and make your establishment and you as a owner look like a clown Why don't you get in the restaurant and manage the staff and hire a bussboy, server and expo instead of relying on your bartender to serve, host, expo and hop on the line to finish orders in the kitchen. If you can't afford it I would love to see YOU running around making things happen and put a positive experience into those guests instead of forcing your employees to take the tongue lashing due to you not properly running a business. Sincerely someone who actually cares for your business more than you do.
Food served cold. Fried chicken should NOT be chicken breast. No buttermilk taste. Service was alright but way understaffed. Hush puppies were ok. Mac and cheese ok. This place has such promise but need to hire someone who actually knows how to cook Southern food.
Terrible service and very pricey just ok food. The manger or whatever that just sat in the backroom on the computer deserves to be fired. Poorly run restaurant.
Disney lines in the heat of summer will get you to a ride faster than waiting to be sat here. Then took just as long to get the food. Never got the cocktail drinks ordered. Bartender brought out the wrong wine, went back to pour the correct one and even that took 15 minutes. Food came out wrong, host/server brought it out saying, “the cooks made this wrong, do you still want it?” After waiting so long we were just hungry so took whatever they got. They didn’t seem to care. So in summary, long wait times, long food cook times, never got drinks, food came out wrong and to top it off the food was not great. Definitely make a u-turn at the door.
Are you tired of being acknowledged by a host/hostess? Do you shudder at the thought of getting sat within 2 hours of being next on the list to sit? Does getting the cocktails your entire table ordered but never received on your tab thrill you? Are you triggered by having your drinks refilled? This is place to waste your money!
The host was also doubling as the waiter which caused us to wait double the amount of time. Also not to mention he was absolutely clueless. The bartender had a snobby attitude and a careless look not only on her face but in her attitude. My advice if you come to Salt Lake downtown GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE. Hope this helps.
Gumbo is average Banana pudding is straight garbage time. Marshmallows go on hot chocolate, smores, sweet potatoes(Candied yams)…not banana pudding. Plus the instant banana pudding mix!?! This went straight into the garage, as it should. Boy as southern as an Alaskan. Also, on three occasions, there’s no one up front. So you’re just left to kinda wait until they come around.
Does place even care about its reviews!!!! Smh!
This place was directly across from my hotel and I couldn't wait to try it. My mouth watered reading the menu and when it server told us they had just changed the menu that day I was excited. Was I disappointed. Let me just say the gumbo was good evacuation though the rice was a little hard and there wasn't enough meat and sauce. What was there was very flavorful. I ordered chicken and waffles. The only thing good on that plate was the fried sweet potato. The chicken was bland. I mean not a lick of seasoning. The waffle want made fresh. It was one of those walks you buy it off the freezer section at Speedway Gas Station with the syrup in it. My colleague order the chicken bowl which consisted of Mac n Cheese and chicken. What she received was a luke warm bowl of macaroni soup. That cheese was watery and the chicken was the same... unseasoned and bland. There was nothing "SOUTHERN" about what we were served.
Was told the bartender was coming, sat there for almost 20 minutes. Didn’t see a bartender so I left.
