Holiday Inn Cardiff City Centre, an IHG Hotel

Very nice stay but the room had one of the smallest bathrooms I have ever seen in a hotel. Completely understand that you get what you pay for and it was perfectly fine but I have never seen one that small… we paid for a breakfast upgrade on arrival but when we went down for breakfast in the morning they didn’t have us marked down for it. We were allowed in but I thought they would at least have a record that I had paid as an add on. I asked the lady to check with the front desk but said it was fine. Didn’t like being made to feel as though we hadn’t. Overall a pleasant stay and I’m being really picky with the negatives if you can call them that. Don’t be put off staying here as it a very friendly and clean hotel.

Needed a place to stay to attend a show at Utilita - about 20 min walk to the venue. This is a good hotel - it doesn't try to do too much and does pretty much everything well. All of the staff I spoke to were very polite and professional, and an extra special thank you to Stacey and Stephen on the front desk for their help extending the reservation and getting some extra cutlery. Extending my reservation the morning I was supposed to leave was very quick and easy. Bed is very comfy and lots of pillows (4 on a double bed), bathroom is fairly modern (shower over bath but sink area looks new). *Huge* television on the wall, larger than most other hotels and pleasant surprising. Large desk area with mirror and plug sockets close to bed. It doesn't impact me as I don't do tea/coffee but no kettle in bedroom may surprise some. Everything is within a walkable distance (including plenty of shops and restaurants), nice view and it's right next to Principality - and this is the only true con, if there's an event on (which there was), you will hear drum and bass from midday onwards & crowd noise. But there's not a lot the hotel can do about it, so I can't really blame them for this. Walkability: Very short walk to most amenities.

Fantastic breakfast here this morning. Very faddie eater and they accommodated me with my white egg omelette.

The worst holiday inn I've ever stayed in. Rooms dated and carpets stained. Pretty grim.

Great location with all the usual ample Holiday Inn facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing. The air-con was a challenge to control in the room but we got there eventually

A massive thank you for hosting us Saturday, the food in Brecon was beautiful and everyone is full of compliments, also callaghans bar was perfect for our before and after the match celebrations! Everyone was so impressed and will be defo be visiting again! Special thanks to Tommy, Louise, George, panos, mathais steven and Gee, you was all fabulous and all I’ve heard is great feedback!

Bad nights sleep on broken bed and breakfast was a greasey and foul tasting

Run down hotel unfortunately. Good location. Some lovely staff but it took almost an hour after being seated to order a drink and food. Totally ignored. After our meal we waited half an hour before having to find someone to pay the bill. Not impressed.

Would I come back? Not sure. I stay in multiple IHG properties throughout the UK and this property seemed a little basic. Reception staff were very friendly however the rooms were a let down. Our room on the 6th floor had a converted wardrobe for where the kettle was stationed, unfortunately the screws were still in the wall. Bar staff were on the ball. Stayed: September 2023
