My fave pub in Halifax!!! So authentic and the food is incredible. The vibe is very old school and I love it. Portions are awesome. Lobster dip is to DIE FOR!!
If old buildings aren't really your thing then the atmosphere might not be for you, but the food and staff are consistently very good! I appreciate that it stays open late, but to also offer some of the best pub food in Halifax at reasonable prices on top of that? GOAT contender
First time dining at the Henry House and it was a pretty disappointing experience. The fish and chips was the smallest portion I have ever received. The fish was not crispy at all, fries were mediocre. The table sitting next to us also ordered a fish and chips and the portion was much larger so not sure what happened. The server very clearly did not want to be there and it came across in his attitude. It was cool and drafty despite the fire places. Wouldn't eat there again.
We noticed this designated historic property near the accommodations we booked for a winter weekend getaway in the city. Fast forward a year and we now live here. Checked out Henry House after a live music event. The Drawing Room was open (only on Friday/Saturday), so we ventured upstairs instead of down to the traditional pub. What a lovely, classy and cozy lounge to enjoy a local draft beer or cocktail inspired by days gone by… early 1800s, prohibition era or modern twist on an old fashioned. 10/10 Bonus: Learned about the Halifax House architectural style.
Very cool old pub and a great place to stop for a pint and some food. The downstairs pub area had a nice fireplace going but the entire building has a great atmosphere.
Food and service were amazing! We dined in the lower level and it had a cool, historical period feel, very relaxing and cozy.
Had an early fish and chips meal last night (Jan 24) and loved the atmosphere. The waiter (I missed her name) was delightful and helpful and enhanced the experience enough I'm writing my first review in decade.
