We ordered off the menu and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food we got with our meals and everything tasted great! We got the crab Rangoon and pot stickers as appetizers, we shared an order of Miso soup, lastly for entrees I had the garlic chicken w fried rice and my hubby had the shrimp/beef fried rice. I do wish they had a liquor license to have some wine, that would have been the icing on the cake! Service was on point and the environment was nice and quiet for a Friday!
The food was good but the ceiling tiles over the food need to be replaced. They look terrible. The ceiling fans were very dirty. Parking: Parking was fine.
I have been a customer for 36 years and I have seen the gradual decline of quality in not only the food, but in the atmosphere. It's dirty, especially around the buffet line (look at the ceiling tiles over the buffet--disgusting). Sorry Lee, the original owner.
Happy China has had its ups and downs over a long time in business. On my recent visit, the buffet was quite good. And the price is right!
This has been my go to Chinese buffet but I dined in yesterday and had the buffet and unfortunately a roach came crawling across my table. I was horrified. I know that if roaches are in the seating area then they are definitely in the kitchen. I probably won’t return. I even felt nauseous once I got home. This is unfortunate because there aren’t many good Chinese buffets left in St. Louis. And the restrooms are beyond disgusting . I didn’t make the staff aware of the roach, we killed it and left it on the table for them. Now that I think about it, I not only should have made them aware, I should have gotten my money back.
We had not been to this place in about 18 years. We came for a birthday. The building itself needs some renovation/maintaining. This economy is not very good, so the price for food compared to what they were offering was not exactly ideal. The food was not good and I recommend saving your money and bypassing this. What is so sad, is the people working here are very sweet, attentive and they want your experience to be good. I hope that some changes can be made because the people who run it seem like very kind folks.
I have been eating the lunch buffet at Happy China since January 1988. Over the years, I will bet I have eaten everything offered on the buffet. The Pot Stickers, Spring Rolls, Hot and Sour Soup, and Egg Foo Yung are my favorites. I was reluctant to post this because once you try the Buffet, you will be a regular. There will be that much less for me! Parking: Plenty of parking. Easy access to the parking lot off of olive Blvd.
