My wife and I have been going to this place since it was The Mill. We made it out last night for dinner and found out they're closing on Sunday. It's heartbreaking, because the space is so cool and the food/service has always been top notch. As expected, our last meal there was excellent. Had a fantastic rum-forward cocktail with cheese curds, Mac n cheese, and a Cuban sandwich. The Cuban is/was one of the best in the city, and their cheese curds came with this beet ketchup that I am going to miss dearly. Hate to see it go, but all good things come to an end.
Atmosphere, service and their old fashioned were amazing! Highly recommended.
Sorry to see them go. Always great no matter what time of day.
The biscuits and gravy are the best I’ve ever had, amazing!
The veggie burger was so delicious. The drinks were really good too.
Lmao Just because you’re closing down this weekend isn’t an excuse for terrible service. This was our first time here and we didn’t even know about that. We entered and stood at the host stand for 20 minutes without being said a single word to by any staff member. The place is small small, the bartender looked at us, our existence was very obvious.. no one even said a “hello.” Mind you, this place looked EMPTY. Max 10 people at bar, max 6 tables actively sitting. Finally server said he’ll be right back to seat us. Waited another 5 min and had to flag them down. We at this point had to be somewhere within the hour so I asked to order right away and the server instantly combated and gave a plethora of reasons why we should be more patient with him. “Oh our regulars just wanna keep talking to me bc we’re closing…” so you make us wait 45 min to put our first order in?!?? It was not good vibes. I was given a butter knife for a steak?! Bro. What the hell. Is this name half fancy a joke to let us know what we’re in for? Server didn’t check in until we were over halfway through our meals and just ran away instantly. The potatoes tasted like waterlogged shxt. We put our card out and paid halfway through eating so we wouldn’t be stuck waiting around. And waiting around. And waiting around. That is not how a restaurant experience should feel. And we are in the service industry. I know what it’s like to be understaffed and they just made us feel like A-holes for not waiting on them to do their bare minimum job all night. Never thought I’d have to dedicate 2 hours to simply eat a plate of food at a “Half Empty” restaurant. See ya Half Fancy
I love this place! Their unique craft cocktail and wine menu changes often as well as their food menu. I've been coming here for many years and have not found anything NOT to like!!! Some of my favorites are the Wild Rice Pancake(s), Crab Cakes, Meatballs, all the soups, the absolute best Veggie Burger I've ever had - SERIOUSLY and cheese curds with homemade Beet Ketchup. They serve Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The staff is always welcoming and friendly! In my opinion, it's a hidden gem of Minneapolis and I'm sad they're closing tomorrow, for good. [Their new name is Half Fancy and not The Mill Northeast.]
