Great cocktails and food! Definitely recommend. If you're a fan of the style of food, it's some familiar flavors, some new but elevated and turned up. Cool vibe but is a little loud. Didn't bother us but keep in mind
Absolutely loved this place- from the food that packed a ton of flavor, the fun and tasty cocktails and the cool vibes! Sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with our bartender Nate and the owner who was super down to earth and friendly. We ordered the butternut squash pork wontons, beef rendang, Brussels sprouts and Balinese chicken. Everything was super delish!
Drove all the way here to find it closed on 2/11/24 (there was a little paper note taped to a door inside that said the restaurant was closed that day). There was no notice of the closure online. Pretty disappointing for a decorated restaurant.
My husband and I have been looking forward to trying out this restaurant for awhile and were very excited. Unfortunately, first off we got the patio seating which I’m sure it’s nice in the summer, HOWEVER, when it’s winter, they blast this heat thing right above your head so it feels like it’s 90 degrees above the half part of your body but 40 degrees the bottom part of your body. It was just so uncomfortable!! It was also so very tight where you were practically having dinner with the people on each sides of you and it’s loud cause you can hear everyone’s convo. Now onto the food. The food was good, but nothing special. We may have ordered wrong, but who knows. The brussel sprouts was way too acidic and had no balance of acid and sweetness or spice .Got other dishes that said it had spice to it and couldn’t taste any spice what so ever. Just not worth the drive. Would only go back if we were in the area and are sitting in the dining area with the beautiful plants and get the pork belly app which was the best thing and the cocktails.
I experienced flavors here I never knew existed. Straight up everything my boyfriend and I had was 10 or 11 out of 10. The Hanoi Sticky Rice was amazing, as was the Khao Soi Noodle Soup. I don’t even like spring rolls but this place converted me. I simply must return. Exceptional ❤️
I'm a little disappointed with my experience at Hai Hai, and maybe it's because my expectations were too high? I'm not quite sure. The atmosphere and decor of this restaurant is great: fun, cozy, yet tropical. It was nice to look at, although the seating was a bit crammed. The service is alright: we had a waitress who promptly brought us our drinks and food, and also checked in with us about allergies, which was nice. However, we weren't given separate plates to enjoy our appetizers with. We had the butternut squash wontons, which had an excellent flavor, but the quantity was low for the high price. The flavor was excellent, though. Nice level of spice. We also had the crispy rice salad (nam khao) and the hanoi sticky rice. I have had nam khao before, and I was excited to try it here. Once again, like with the wontons, the flavor was excellent, but the textures were... off. The crispy rice was more like crunchy, borderline burnt, making it difficult to eat. The vegetables were fresh, though. But I'm a bit confused by the temperature. When I've eaten this in the past, it was served warm. Everything, including the crispy pork belly I added, was stone cold. So I'm not sure if this is how they do it here, or if this was a mistake, either way I didn't like their take on the dish. The hanoi sticky rice has a lot of elements which should be savory and delightful, but I found that even with the pickled red onions, things tasted flat; subdued. Both dishes had elements which should have blended together, but somehow didn't, which was unfortunate. Perhaps the happy hour here is better, but I'm hesitant to give it another chance.
