It was the first time for us to go to Gyukaku in the US although we tried them in Japan several times. They have a different menu from the Japanese one and the dipping sauces on the table are also different but they keep the Japanese service level which we expected, so we were glad to come here to enjoy the Yakinuku BBQ. We were tempted to order the all you can eat in a hour because it looked like a good deal. However we are pros so we decided to order the cuts of meat that we like the most. All the cuts were great and marinated well. The cooking surfaces were cleaned and they even replaced it during our meal so that all the food can cook cleanly and properly which we appreciated. The matcha cake was also good and would pair well with a plum wine sake. Would recommend coming here to give the diy Yakinuku a try in DC.
This place is UHHHH-MAZINGGGG! From the service to the food to the atmosphere! Everything about this place was wonderful! I recommend trying their Corn dish! Sounds so basic right?! BUT IT IS SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS! Never loved corn so much until I had theirs lol also, they literally portion out the perfect amount of meats that you order for grilling. They also have SMORES!! I toasted my marshmallow over the grill and smusheddd my s'more together. It was perfect! They also have some delicious alcoholic beverages! If you haven't tried Japanese BBQ you are missing out! What are you waiting for? Put that address in that GPS and go get you some GOOD EATS! ENJOY!
