I did not stay in the hotel but ate in the restaurant many times years ago. I was in love with the lasagna and would not think of eating it anywhere else. I went there last night after living away for 7 years. It was tasty but not like I remembered, sadly. The lasagna nolonger comes out in an individualized oval cast iron skillet like it did. Now it's on a large white plate. The portion is now served on a square plate. It looks smaller, and first thought is this was maybe bulk produced or bought. It didn't have a whole lot of cheese like it used to. I walked in expecting to do a 5 star for the food but, instead, give it only a 3 star, which breaks my heart. Now, the flip side is nothing has changed inside the place, which is perfect. l. I hope they never try to change or modernize it. It adds to its old English charm. The staff were great. (Especially) The one server, Jeremy, who was funny, added much personality and laughs. He was also very handsome, and he could be much more interactive with its restaurant patrons, not just to those at the bar, but one can't help overlook it. It was very much the feeling of being in an old English pub almost slash dinner theater. Jeremy livened up the place and gave it Jazz. So overall, I would give it a 4 stars. I wanted to do 5 stars after a $75+ meal for two, but I'll have to be ok with giving only 4 stars to one of these cities' iconic restaurants that I always loved. If Jeremy was not there, I would have been forced to give 3 stars. I'm happy and disappointed. I may return for a pint but food.... hmmmm I'm not sure, to be honest. Maybe it's a new chef, new recipe, and no serving methods, but it has me wondering if I want to spend money again on food there, and I just don't know. I take my reviews very seriously and try my very best to be fair and honest in my reviews.
Haven't been in the rooms but the food is great
*Restaurant Review* Service was the only decent thing about this visit, food was not enjoyable , went for breakfast in restaurant that was almost empty, scrambled eggs were so undercooked that the server notice before we could tell her and they brought order back to kitchen, hashbrown were undercooked, breakfast pudding was similar to something done in microwave, completely soft but a dried up layer on top, seems like it never touch a grill/pan, one order had 2 slices of pudding, the other only had one slice…never mentioned issues but the server did give us a discount, this was because of how long we had to wait. This is the second visit now where we’ve been disappointed with breakfast
