Very old pub. Nice atmosphere, good location.
Had a great visit here earlier today! we were doing a historical walk of Coventry and popped in here to have a look at the history of the building and grab a drink and something to eat. The man who served us was very kind and opened the upper floor so there was more space and we could sit down as a group. Food and service was excellent and we had a lovely time thank you
Awesome vegan options. Tofish and chips £15. So refreshing to have a pub serving homemade and fresh vegan options. Plus it’s very quaint with some cute nooks. It’s nice to sit near the windows as it has a bit more light. There is an upstairs if downstairs is busy. Vegetarian options: Full vegan menu available
A gem. Good food. Real ale and olde worlde charm
Built c. 1583 but could this be Coventry’s Ship of Theseus? Very impressive from the outside and so close to the war damaged ruins of Coventry Cathedral. An entry in 2024 Good Beer Guide.
Went to the Golden Cross after reading reviews for gluten free food, we had visited the Transport museum so it was perfect for a meal before home, my father in law needs gluten free so was perfect! we arrived at 2.45pm and food finished at 3pm so we were pleased to get order in just in time! i could smell urine from the toilets which was a shame, but the food was tasty and plenty, and service was friendly and officiant. would go there again if back in the area. beautiful old building.
Love the food, friendly staff, usually quite quiet but this afternoon/evening, was a noisy few in the corner, can't be helped! I am gluten and dairy intolerant and was pleased to ve told I could have steak and peppercorn sauce absolutely loved it, amaz8n, cooked to perfection. My other half had the seabass and was equally pleased. Struggle to find decent gluten free menu so will become a firm first choice I'm sure. Thank you so much. xx
Nice pub, friendly service
