Miss the original chef. Food is okay.
The oyster motoyaki is the best I have had on the island. The assorted tempura was large with 3 prawns, 1 fish and 4 veggies. Batter was light and crisp. The BC roll was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.
I could never find sushi as good as they have in Vancouver till today Fudo is amazing the sashimi was so fresh the presentation was great and the place is warm and inviting.. Update a year later this place is still wonderful.
I remember coming here pre-covid and the place was amazing. It was definitely a great place to eat out. I went there last night thinking about how great it was before. As soon as I arrived, it looked the same but I could tell right away it was different owners and staff. I ordered the miso soup, agedashi tofu, and the vegetable tempura roll. Miso soup was pretty standard. Just like any other average Japanese restaurant. It was served hot, which is good at least. Agedashi tofu was decent with a nice light crust on the tofu, but the topping with dashi flakes didn't taste fresh as it was pretty dry. I know that a vegetable tempura roll is about as Western as it can get, but it was too sweet with the sauce on top and had too much tempura inside. A lighter batter on the tempura rolls I think would be a lot better, similar to how the agedashi tofu is. Service was decent. We were sat down right away but it took a while for the staff to ask us our order. They did check on us and made sure we had everything we needed. I wasn't impressed with the sushi chef being on his phone and not washing his hands after. And the bathroom fan needs a cleaning!
We ordered Unakyu Maki (2), Caterpillar Roll, Wild Salmon Nigiri’s, Chicken Teriyaki Don. Everything was 10/10. Beautiful flavours. Service was not bad, but not great - just meh. If service was better we’d leave a better tip.
Some of the best sushi I've had. Great place.
