Esperanza Trading Co.

Esperanza is one of my favorite cafes: amazing coffee and baked goods, incredible staff, and a great atmosphere to study/hang out. My biggest problems is it's a stuffy box of a building, that makes the C02 level inside too high at times. The good: their coffee is amazing, the staff is incredible, and some of their pastries are my favorite baked good around. The bad: occasionally the place is packed. The ugly: ** the place is a concrete box with almost zero ventilation. ** That means when the garage door they have is closed CO2 levels get to levels above 2400+ PPM. When you get that range people start complaining of headaches, fatigue, slowness of thought, nausea, etc. It can also can sickness to spread since there is little airflow to replace germ-filled air with fresh air.

Excellent espresso drinks. Top 3 in PDX imo. However I was super disappointed with the drip coffee especially given the quality of lattes/ americanos.

Super excited to have found this spot! I love that there is no extra charge for non-dairy milks or drink flavorings, the baristas were super friendly, and the coffee was delicious (highly recommend the con leche with vanilla, real vanilla bean flecks in the latte!) Fantastic baked goods. I just ate a strawberry empanada and it changed the trajectory of my day.

LOVE. I just happened to stumble on this coffee shop; 10/10 would recommend. The cafecito is speaking my language. A small 8oz coffee, Latin authenticity with Mexican style pastries. Diverse Spanish speaking baristas. Rita Payes playlist. Dog treats for your doggo. Beautiful aesthetic/ garage renovation. Just go! Great work!

Coffee is very good. 5 star on the drinks and staff. I only wish there were more options for baked goods.
