The owner is really nice and the food is very good. Can’t complain at all with this economy. Will be coming back for sure
Today, I ordered the falafel plate from Donair Town via DoorDash. Regrettably, the experience was less than satisfactory. As seen in the attached picture, the food arrived with subpar packaging, resulting in everything being mashed together. Furthermore, the falafel, typically a standout on their menu, fell short of expectations. The flavors lacked the anticipated vibrancy, contributing to an underwhelming dining experience. Given these issues, I’ve decided not to order from Donair Town again. I hope they consider refining both their packaging and the flavor profile of their dishes in the future.
I’m not sure why there are lots of bad reviews. I love this place! I got a lamb super donair, it was super delicious and well worth the buck. I moved around here recently and I can see myself getting a donair often if I want to treat myself!
This was by far the worst donair I have ever had. Bland plain white rice, topped by small thin shreds of lamb and very little sauce. The pita bread was paper thin with a couple of spoonfuls of hummus. Even their rendition of a Greek salad was laughable. A few pieces of orange bell pepper and a few pieces of cucumber. No feta, olives, tomato or anything like that. I can’t find one good thing to say about this meal. The lady seemed nice though…
To start they microwave pita bread and seems as if everything is watered down including the meat. I dont understand how you can mess up donair or rice plates this is not donair it's just a waste of money. Do not go here I will never go again.
It seems that the multiple changes in ownership over the years has made the place kind of a disappointment for many. It still scratches the itch here and there, but I do feel some lack in the most recent orders, to say the least.
I love the donairs here, but unfortunetly they dont make them as big as they used to.. i got a super beef donair the other day and it was pretty small and didnt have that much beef inside... please bring back the old sizes when you are charging 11$+ for a donair.
My partner and I are incredibly ill after eating the chicken...
Great food. A neighborhood gem. 5/5
Ouch... Mans heated the pitas in a microwave, with the plastic BAG still on.. crazy. Heating in a microwave is already unacceptable but with a plastic bag???? Holy. Use a press like any other decent donair place. The falafel was also heated in the microwave, which is wack a f... any other place ever uses a deep fryer. No olive, weak salad, just penny pinching at every corner. Rice was some plain white rice that just seems off. Lady at the front was nice but.. man this place is probably the worst joint on Austin. How it's still around is mind blowing. Many, many years ago this place was run by some German folks and was awesome. This place could feature on some nightmare kitchen type documentary now with the practices they're doing, and that's the level of guidance it would need to get things to an acceptable level. R.I.P Donair Town Austin. Just go already.
