If you desire an exceptional dining experience, I would not recommend requesting Madison as your server. Unfortunately, she did not meet the standards of service that most of us expect in a restaurant setting. While the food at Dix Cafe was satisfactory, it did not stand out enough to warrant a return visit. Considering the level of service, I would suggest choosing another restaurant that values and delivers better customer service, ensuring you feel welcomed and valued throughout your meal.
We were driving past, looking for breakfast. Dix Café seemed new and we thought we'd try it out.
Clean and airy, with a pervasive spice aroma (I seem to recollect that there was an Indian restaurant in that location previously).
There weren't many customers and we were invited to sit wherever we liked.
Water, coffee, and juice appeared promptly. I was somewhat taken back by the "beef bacon" in the breakfast segment of the menu. On inquiry, our server informed me that it was one of two halal items on the menu. I ordered the Dix special ( eggs, beef bacon, hash browns) and it turned out great.
More disappointing was my partner's pancakes. See attached photo. I believe to let such burned food out of the kitchen and then to serve it is unfortunate and a lack of quality control.
The server did offer to return it after I mentioned when she came to ask about our food. By then we were already halfway through our meal and were not going to wait. The food item was also not taken off the bill (I didn't ask, but it would have been the right thing to do since they were inedible).
Tried Dix out for the first time this morning, and we were very impressed. We will definitely go back. High quality meals, service was outstanding, overall a very, very good experience.
Special shout out to the waffles!
Great atmosphere, omelets were fantastic, very clean, good service!
Super delicious place! Highly recommend!
Expensive and limited menu. Love the decor but the food needs to be special and different for customers to come back. The service is mediocre. It doesn’t look busy but I can’t seem to track down my server when I was there twice.
Alright y’all I’m going to be real. Dix is clean, staff is kind and attentive. Food was fine. Presentation was nice.
Now for my opinion. This place was not my vibe and did not match what I thought I was walking into. When you ask for a soda, they bring you a 12 oz bottle with no refills and charge $3. Coffee is also no refills bc it’s French pressed and is $4 per cup. I also ordered a mimosa. I was disappointed as it tasted like super cheap champagne. Now I’m realistic, I get where I’m ordering a mimosa, but this was honestly the worst mimosa I’ve ever had. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast breakfast. It was yummy, large portions. The bacon I received was as thin as a piece of paper and tasted off. My companion ordered a sarah bowl. He thought it was yummy and said he would get it again. Overall, this place is more about looks than the actual product.
I would try to come again as their brunch menu is tempting. But I will definitely be sure to only order water.
The staff was great! The restaurant itself felt very cliche and uppity suburban.
SO and I just moved here so we thought we’d try this place. I’d say the atmosphere is early 2010’s “live laugh love.” Industrial furniture, subway-ish tile, Edison bulbs, that kind of stuff. Ordered a Coke Zero, it came out in one of the mini 12 oz bottles and was $3. No refills even on coffee? SO got a mimosa and said the oj was pulpy and the champagne was low quality.
The food was very tasty though. I got the Sara’s bowl with scrambled eggs. SO hot the cinnamon roll French toast breakfast. Both were very good. The bacon, we thought, was thin. Almost shaved. The biscuit seems like it’s out of a package. Definitely a biscuit designed for consumption with gravy. Hash browns were tasty. They are the cubed type and were prepared well. The chicken on the Sara’s Bowl and the cinnamon roll French toast were the best parts.
Want to come back to check out the brunch menu but might not be too eager to return for breakfast.
This is a really good breakfast spot! The staff are all very sweet and attentive as well. We can't wait to come back and try some more items from off of the menu. The Greek omelet is really good.
Really wanted to like this place. Gave it several chances. But a hair in the corned beef sandwich on not one but two visits was an ender. Plus a chipped water glass on the rim. Afraid we won't be back.
Eggs good. Biscuit tasted like it was a frozen variety. Potatoes? Coffee, good but no refills since it was French Press. Price $25. Not quite sure it was reasonable
I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast and it was delicious! Very generous portions with the food. Staff was all very nice.
This was a really nice breakfast experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat at a nice clean table. The decor was well appointed with white and black. The bar area was neat and a good fit into the overall theme.
Our server was friendly, attentive and understood the menu. Our food came out quickly and was fresh and tasty. We will definitely visit again.
I will start this with saying we are definitely classic diner breakfast people. Dix is not that. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing, pretty, clean and preset for inviting guests to any open table. The gym next door had their music pumping so loud you could feel the base at our booth on the other side of the restaurant, not Dix’s fault they just have bad neighbors. On a Saturday morning at 9:30a I would expect to see more than 6 full tables. But yea for us no wait! We were greeted immediately and service was pretty average.
My husband struggled with finding pancakes, eggs and a breakfast meat all together. If you like overly sweet or gravy coated breakfast this is a great spot for you! You will have lots of options. He ended up ordering the simple stack and adding 2 eggs for an extra $4 and sharing my breakfast meat I got with my Country breakfast. He was very disappointed in the pancakes, they were dry and the syrup was like Carmel sauce. I had the country breakfast with scrambled eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage and biscuits with gravy. My eggs were light and fluffy, the gravy was super flavorful but the biscuits were flat and hard. We were both bummed in the no pork options, for breakfast meats. The hash browns were mushy and had no seasoning on them. My drip coffee was ok. I was asked if I would like a coffee to go, that was nice. Over all we spent just over $40 with tip and it was ok but I just don’t think we are the clientele Dix is catering to.
Wow, what a great place! Really nice inside, nicer people and great food! Had the veggie omelet w/a side of bacon, both of which was perfection. I don’t live in the area, but would love to come back the next time I am.
Cute place! Thankfully there were veggie options. The only thing was the hash browns were not crispy enough, they were more liked a shredded baked potato. Service was great! Emily was really sweet and friendly. Lavender iced tea was fantastic!
