Dave's Fish & Chips

Their fish is good but I don't see the point in waiting like an hour for overcooked fries. I've eaten at Dave's twice. Once in the summer where we had to wait well over an hour for a few pieces of fish (so not worth it), and once this week in February. The second time around was a lot faster (fries are still overdone though), but I'm now convinced they aren't doing much in the kitchen except banging pots and pans, because our order still took a while and we had to resort to making origami out of our animals (I made a frog). If I could give half stars, I'd give a 2.5. Fish is good enough, everything else should get a lot better.

This used to be the BEST - not any more!!!! Third time I've been there since Covid. Over done fish - dry!!! I ordered clam chowder today and it was very thick paste of flour and water -- maybe skim milk - not creamy, tasteless, few potatoes and maybe 4 - 6 pcs of clam... NOT the great clam chowder we used to get!!! Must be new ownership. Three tries --- NEVER again!!!

The food was good me and my date had the cod and chips, however the service was very rushed and horrible, the servers were trying to take our plates before we were even finished literally still eating, one server a minute later walked over and asked if we were "almost done." When we were still eating and talking they didn't come by and ask if we would like the bill the server just brought us the machine didn't say anything and left it at our table with the receipt in it. I would have loved to write a five star review because i actually did like the food and the restaurant had a cool vibe going on, but the service was really bad.

Our favourite fish n chips. Worth the drive to enjoy the great food and service. Staff are very polite. It’s definitely a place to visit, highly recommended.

Dave’s has gone down considerably. It used to be great, but not anymore. I’ve tried it 3 times in the last couple of years and been disappointed each time.

We've visited this restaurant at least 30 times over the last decade, but no more. Food quality has gone down, and the posted hours are incorrect. It seems the restaurant actually stops serving food at either 6 or 6:30PM, not 7PM as posted. We've been turned away twice because of "last call". I'm no expert, but I think that's called false advertising. Best of luck in the future new owners of Dave's! You'll need it!

Absolutely great food. Very understaffed though. Long wait for every aspect of the meal. Food was worth the wait

New ownership has ruined a Steveston gem. Root beer they gave me was sour. How is this even possible? Clam chowder was super salty and almost tasted like it came out of a can. Fish and chips were mediocre at best. Lack of attention. Even the ketchup bottle looked disgusting. Will not be be returning.
