This is my favorite place to hang out with friends and family. Great service, food, patio, live music....
We visited the Cypress Trail Hideout on a Tuesday night for dinner. The restaurant wasn't too packed, but you can tell it can get busy on the weekends. We were seated by the hostess and given menus. We decided that we would order the 2 meat BBQ plate with Brisket and Wagyu Jalepeno Sausage with a side of mac n cheese and cole slaw. We also ordered the rib eye plate with a baked potato. The BBQ was good, nice flavor that complements the Mac n cheese and cole slaw. The slaw had a different taste than what I am accustomed to, but nonetheless, tasty. Mac and cheese was a little runny as far as the cheesy texture, but again, it tasted good. The only complaint was the rib eye steak. It's hard to go wrong with a rib eye, but when it's over cooked, it's No Bueno. I ordered medium, but the steak came out medium well to well done. The flavor was alright, but the toughness of the meat made it hard to chew. The waiter said the kitchen usually gets the steaks on point with the temperature of the steak, but not his fault, the kitchen didn't cook it properly. Baked potato could use a lot more of the toppings, considering the size of the potato. There was only enough to cover half the potato. It was an OK experience. The exterior of the restaurant has outside seating that can accommodate large groups and has a nice vibe. We may be back to try some of the other dishes, just not steak.
Delicious food. The catfish platter was delicious. Drained perfectly, and the green beans tasted just like they're supposed to taste in Texas ( southern seasoning and love). Mashed potatoes were on point. My fiance Carlos enjoyed his meal and beer . If you like a country vibe you will love this Icehouse off Hempstead highway. Made me feel like I was in La Grange TX eating a great southern hospitality meal. We will be back soon. I am going to bring my mom and sister.
