Cumbria Grand Hotel

Hotel food cannot fought. Excellent choice of food every day. The hotel itself needs an overall as some furniture is worn, painting is required in some areas around. Some renevacatiion going on during our visit. Bar area is cold and draughty due to door always being open. Staff friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. We were on a coach booking. Entertainment was available Tuesday and Thursday. Despite these comments, we would visit again. Dogs are welcome to stay. Lift available, wheelchair friendly. Wedding venue available, ballroom downstairs, snooker, and pool table available.

Perhaps best hotel I've been in staff friendliness and service. Hotel is a little dated but remains good at reasonable rates. Big question - Would we stay here again? - DEFINITELY

Stayed here with my partner and dog in January and we had a lovely stay. Breakfast was 10/10 and beds were comfy. They provided us with a separate area where we could eat in the evening with the dog and staff were very accommodating. We will be staying here again - great walks around the hotel too.

It was a lovely place but a bit rough around the edges but it was a very old building The staff were really nice

If you enjoy old architecture and building with history and presence then this is one to add to your list. The building and grounds are stunning. Breakfast was excellent, staff were all professional, pleasant, smiling and willing to help with questions/requests. Note this is a very big building and a little run down in places, I have no doubt that for some this would be something to complain about. So, it you want completely polished perfect decor, stay elsewhere. If you want character, atmosphere and magnificence, stay here. We loved it and will stay again.
