Friendly landlord and nice food

I've never visited this particular pub before but I have eaten in another Marston pub, so, when my old school friend came to meet me, it seemed a good place to hang out for a nice chat and a catch up. It was a Monday lunchtime and there were only a handful of customers when we entered. Now, I don't expect pubs to stay nice and quiet for us to talk, but, it is a bit irritating that it was the bar staff making so much noise we could barely hear each other. Sorry, make that one member of bar staff, who seemed to be the only one in. I have never known one person to make that amount of noise on their own. Screeching with laughter at goodness knows what, shouting and singing, badly, at the top of her voice. We actually began to suspect she was high on something. If she'd been a customer, she would have been shown the door. The food was good but we had to leave because we just couldn't stand the noise any more. We won't be back. In response to the manager's reply below - As I didn't say which Monday it was, I'm surprised you can tell me what you 'think' happened. I would, also, appreciate you NOT trying to 'guilt' me by suggesting other guests had multiple learning difficulties, I wasn't aware of. Only one of the two of us were there, and it wasn't you. When we arrived the barmaid over excitedly welcomed us, in an extremely over the top manner. We just smiled and acknowledged her. There was a single older lady, sitting alone in front of the bar, that the barmaid was already singing at. The lady then said to us, "hasn't she got a lovely personality?" I said, yes, although she might want to cut down on the 'e numbers,' the lady laughed and agreed. So, not just us that noticed it was a bit too much then. She was not making a fuss of any group, she was entertaining herself. There was barely anyone in and it was probably boring. No, I won't be ringing thanks. Why would I? So that you can tell me again how wrong I was? I think they call that gaslighting. Sometimes, things are exactly as they seem...

Enjoyed the soul dj at the pub. Parking: Not numerous places but should get a space of an evening

I would like to say a big thank you to Megan and the staff on Tuesday the 13 February how well they look after us in the afternoon. A very extensive menu and everyone enjoyed the meals they had. There were 10 of us and all the meals came out together. The evening staff were very helpful too. All in all a fantastic pun with lovely staff

Great place good atmosphere pleasant bar staff and reasonable prices

The friendliest landlord I think I've ever come across. Super attentive and a good laugh! The atmosphere is spot on. Bar etiquette is top. It's opposite a big open park so it's nice to see that the pub is dog friendly! Vegetarian options: The Thai curry is so good it almost makes me think I could become a vegetarian (almost).
