Cracking real ale pubs and hidden beer garden
Found the Tap House after a long search looking for somewhere to eat in the evening. What a great find! Really good traditional pub with great ale selection and a brilliant menu. We were warmly welcomed and taken care of by the two friendly staff on duty - they couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The food (Shropshire beef and Pork belly) was the best we'd had, ever. A 5 star recommendation from us. Thank you.
For the price we paid the room was spot on. Nice pub and decent pint. Dead centre of Shrewsbury.
Stayed at Cromwell’s Tap House on the 15th and 16th March 2024, the bedroom spacious and the 4 poster bed very comfortable. Had an evening meal on both nights very nice and good value. The bar was busy especially on Saturday with the rugby on TV and two acts singing in the bar, the atmosphere was electric. Best of all was the welcome from all the staff. This was our first visit to Shrewsbury when we come here again we hope we can stay at Cromwell’s Walkability: Left the car at the NCP car park around the corner at Wye Cop. This meant we were able walk around Shrewsbury and enjoy a drink in some of the fantastic period pubs. One can see all of Shrewsbury town on foot. Make sure you visit the Market Hall.
We visited (and stayed overnight) midweek. The pub/bar was very good, with a wide range of drinks available. As a real ale drinker, I was pleased to see a good choice of local ales. The choice of wines was also extensive. We had an evening meal which was tasty and reasonably priced. The service was excellent and the bar staff couldn't do enough for you. As for the room, it was clean and comfortable. It wasn't luxurious by any stretch but it was good value for money.
