As my wife and mother-in-law are both from Scotland I've eaten many tatty scones and today we decided to try them from the Country Bakery . . . Big mistake 😥
Their tatty scones were they worst I've ever had, extremely dry and flavourless. We bought one dozen but after having only a couple bites, we all threw them in the garbage.
Don't think we'll be back
Shelves were pretty much bare, and all snacks I picked up were well after the best before date. I wouldn’t really trust the “fresh” stuff because of this, honestly.
The pies are amazing! The variety of items is good. It's great to have British food so close to home.
Stopped in for grand opening today. Sausage rolls are delicious.
Took your advice and got some meat pies, fantastic. Steak and gravy is my favourite, chicken and veg is my wife's and lamb and mint is my father's.
Ot looks small from the outside but lots of items available. Bakery is excellent. A good selection of savory pies. I missed out on the steak & kidney pie but I'll be back. Nice selection of confections condiments and tin goods
Desserts were as I remembered them from my youth
I’ve been going here since they first opened, I just got 6 empire cookies on Friday and they were stale The jam was hard and not fresh like other times, not sure I’ll be back
Unfortunately, this bakery is holding on to goods and selling them long after they are stale.
I bought a pineapple tart and couldn't cut it. I got out a huge pair of scissors and finally managed to cut it in half.. both pieces shooting across the room. It was literally rock hard. I tasted a small piece and it was solid and tasteless.
For the prices paid, I should not be receiving stale goods.
I also notice that other reviews stating the same do not have responses from the business owners..
The meat pies are pure excellence! The pastry is light and flaky, and the portion of chicken, or beef in each pie is very generous. The Eccles cakes were also delicious! We'll definitely be back often.
